New GIS group sets inaugural meeting

The inaugural meeting of a Geographic Information Systems Users’ Group will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 26 at the Remington Nature Center of St. Joseph, 1502 MacArthur Drive.

Representatives from cities, counties, state agencies, universities and water districts who currently work with GIS as part of their jobs are invited to attend.

The meeting is intended for stakeholders interested in planning for future user group sessions and will not initially focus on technical information.

The event is hosted by Buchanan County, the city of St. Joseph, Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments, Mo-Kan Regional Council and the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission.

Park meeting set

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold a public informational meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the campground amphitheater at Crowder State Park near Trenton.

Visitors are invited to share comments with staff on the park and its facilities. Recent projects include new roofing on the group camp’s recreation and dining buildings.

Crowder State Park is located in Grundy County, four miles west of Trenton on Missouri Highway 146.

Library to hold

book sale

Hundreds of books will be sold at garage sale prices June 12-13 at the Mound City Public Library, 205 E. Sixth St.

Sale hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday or until all books are sold.

Sixth Street will be closed between Nebraska and Savannah streets in front of the library for item display. Volunteers plan to set up tents and shelving for the display.

The sale will move to June 19-20 in case of rain. Proceeds will be used by the group to pay for library programs and improvements.
