PLATTE CITY, Mo. — A 50-year-old St. Joseph man received serious injuries early Sunday morning when the vehicle he was driving overturned off Interstate 29.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Daniel E. Jones was taken to North Kansas City Hospital for treatment. A nursing supervisor said Mr. Jones was listed in stable condition Sunday night.

The patrol’s report said the wreck happened at 5:50 a.m. on I-29, at the junction with Missouri Highway 92.

Mr. Jones, driving a 2001 Ford north, ran the vehicle off the right side of the interstate. The vehicle traveled over an embankment, struck several trees and overturned — landing on the driver’s side. Mr. Jones was wearing a seat belt.

An investigation continues and charges are pending, according to the patrol.
