Boy injured after driving 3-wheeler into ditch

A 4-year-old Cainsville, Mo., boy is in serious condition after a three-wheeler accident occurred in Mercer County on Saturday evening.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the child was driving a Honda 3-Wheeler northbound on Falcon Street, seven miles northwest of Princeton, Mo. at about 5:40 p.m., when he struck a ditch while attempting to make a left-hand turn into a driveway.

The child was ejected from the vehicle as it overturned, coming to rest partially on top of the boy. The report stated he was in serious condition at the site of the accident.

A Mercer County ambulance transported the child to Princeton, Mo., where he was taken by Lifeflight air ambulance to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., the report stated. A nursing supervisor for the hospital said they had no comment on the boy's condition.

this is so sad. poor kid. what the heck are parents thinking? three wheelers are likely to give a false sense of security because they feel stable, but they are the easiest to flip. all you have to do is turn the wheel hard and the tire acts like an emergency brake.

I'm in amazement that they let this four year old drive alone. We have dirt bikes and four wheelers and we in no way would ever let any of our younger children on them, even with an adult. So sad this had to happen do to parents poor judgement.
