Democrats will honor Truman
by Ken Newton
Thursday, May 7, 2009

Harry Truman was a homegrown, meat-and-potatoes kind of politician. The Buchanan County Democratic Central Committee wants to honor him just that way tonight.

On the 125th anniversary of the Missouri president's birth, the Democrats will hold a steak-and-potato dinner in St. Joseph.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at Callison Hall, 1220 S. 10th St. Tickets are $12 a person, and the public is invited.

State auditor Susan Montee will be the featured speaker. Those who just want to hear Ms. Montee speak can get in without a fee.

For more information, call Sheila Murray at 294-3684.
