The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced road work projects in Northwest Missouri for this week. Speed limits will be reduced, and drivers should watch for flaggers directing traffic in work zone areas.
St. Joseph — Area maintenance crews will begin a four-day project on the shoulders of U.S. Highway 169 between St. Joseph and Missouri Route T in Buchanan County.
Rea — Road work has been scheduled for Missouri Highway 48 in Andrew County between Rea and Missouri Route P, beginning today. The road will be narrowed to one lane during the four-day project.
Maryville — Area maintenance crews will be replacing a culvert today about a quarter-mile east of the city limits at the intersection of U.S. Highway 136 and Katydid Road. The road will be closed at this location from 8 a.m. to noon today. The highway may be narrowed to one lane briefly during this work.
Mound City — Concrete bridge repairs are scheduled to begin today on U.S. Highway 159, southeast of Mound City at the Squaw Creek Truck Stop. The bridge will be narrowed to one lane during the work, which is expected to take a week to complete.
Bridge repairs also will be done today on the Missouri Route N bridge north of Mound City. The bridge will be narrowed to one lane from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Grant City — Area maintenance crews will be replacing a culvert three-tenths of a mile west of Missouri Route C on Missouri Route M in Worth County. The road is scheduled to close for five hours beginning at 8 a.m. today.
Bethany — Area maintenance crews will begin a weeklong patching project in various locations on Missouri Route W between Bethany and Missouri Route M in Harrison County. The road will be narrowed to one lane around the work zone each day from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Eagleville — A portion of Missouri Route M in Harrison County, west of Eagleville, remains closed for a bridge deck replacement project at Big Muddy Creek that is scheduled to take between six and eight weeks to complete. The project is being done by Loch Sand and Construction Co. This is one of four projects awarded to the Maryville-based company totaling $937,000.
The bridge projects are a part of the Missouri Safe & Sound program, which will improve 155 Northwest Missouri bridges during the next five years, 25 of which will be in Harrison County.
