Good times with Gwen

A concert will be held at the Fair Building, just off of Highway 75 in Holton, Kan., at 8 p.m. tonight. The star of the concert will be Gwen Sebastian and her band, Breakaway. Sebastian is an up-and-coming performer and songwriter. She has opened for Sugarland, Taylor Swift and The Oak Ridge Boys. The event is hosted by the Jackson County Fair Association as a fundraiser for the planned new fairgrounds. The gates will open at 7 p.m.

They’ll make you feel so young

Kansas City’s Quality Hill Playhouse will pay tribute to Ol’ Blue Eyes with the new cabaret revue “All Sinatra.” The show will be a compilation of Frank Sinatra’s stories and more than 50 of his songs, including “Luck Be a Lady” and “New York, New York.” “All Sinatra” will run from May 29 through June 28 at Quality Hill Playhouse. Performers with street cred

The Lawrence Busker Festival will take place in Lawrence, Kan., from Aug. 21-23. The festival will feature street performers such as fire eaters, whip artists, strong men, jugglers, musicians, magicians, mimes and dancers from around the country. Performances will be scheduled at various places along Massachusetts Street throughout the weekend, and workshops and demos for kids will be held on the morning of Aug. 22 at the Lawrence Arts Center. On Aug. 23, the buskers will help out at the Kansas Flat Picking Championships in nearby South Park. Face painting, chalk art and balloon artists will also be on hand.
