It's Your Call, Nov. 1, 2009

Sunday, November 1, 2009

Editor’s Note: In keeping with tradition, the News-Press is publishing no more comments concerning the school levy in advance of Tuesday’s election. We welcome your calls on other matters.

Barack’s fault

Now, we just went to our clinic and we’re told that they don’t have any flu vaccine, let alone the H1N1, and then they said maybe they would have it by the end of the month. Now, if our president can’t even handle a flu epidemic, what in the world are we going to do when we have another Katrina or another 9/11? This is the most inept president in history. Can’t he even handle the flu?

Fantasyland

A Plattsburg columnist said he felt like he was living in an “Alice in Wonderland” world because President Obama received a Nobel Peace Prize for nothing. It’s not the first time we’ve all lived in fantasyland. President Bush told us that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

Nice job

I wanted to congratulate Eric Keith on his photo of the rain puddle on the front page of Friday’s newspaper. It looks just like an impressionistic painting. Very beautiful.

Not good

I am calling in about the overpopulation of prisons. I’ve been noticing lately they’ve been putting people in prison for child support. That is kind of a bad deal, because they can’t pay child support in prison. Put them on a supervised work program and tell them they will get a job and will pay child support, and make it mandatory. By putting them in prison, they are going to be that much further behind.

Like it is

Thank God for Hillary. She can stand up to at least some people over there that want all our money and want us to do all these things for them. Then they stand out in the streets and burn our flag. She says things truthfully, like it is — like everybody else thinks, but they don’t always say.

Touching story

I just wanted to comment about the fallen soldier from Lathrop and Plattsburg. What an inspiring, touching and emotional story it is. Made tears run down this old man’s face.

Lock ‘im up

What a pity to have our police and prosecutors work so hard to catch these burglars, only to have a judge put one on probation because it is his first felony arrest.

Fantasyland.

When are people like you and your president finally going to grow a pair and stop trotting out Mr. Bush as your whipping boy/smokescreen? After a year, it's not only tiresome, it is ineffective.

Stanmich,I assume that limit of Bush blaming will have the same half life as Clinton blaming.

Has it been a year already?

To blame the President for the flu is just wrong. Once upon a time we had drug makers in America, but we sued them out of the country. Today all our vaccines are made overseas. A few years ago one overseas drug maker screwed up the process and to redo the shots that year we were several months late. with no national ability to take care of ourselves, we are dependent on someone else for our flu shots. This year adding H1N1 to the regular flu has overloaded the process. Those French labs would naturally take care of their own market first. The fix would require "tort reform" which no democrat can tolerate, and rebuilding an industry in America. I am thankful this is justH1N1 that we have known was coming for months and not some thing like anthrax that actually kills most people in days. Obama gives us plenty to yell about, but this isn't one of the things. At worst Obama hasn't done anything to fix the problem yet, just as Bush hadn't gone after Osama bin Laden before 9-11. We don't need blame, we need solutions.

Those who believe Iraq DIDN'T have wepons of mass distruction are living in a "Fantasyland."

And Bigbob, you are right.. "To blame the President for the flu is just wrong." However I do recall when it was President Bush in office he was to blame for the vaccine shortage. He was accused of trying to kill seniors.

I agree not good,

It is only making the problem worse to put these fathers in jail. A work program would help everyone!

In between sexual assaults and getting sex in the oval office..Clinton did shoot a cruise missle at Bin Ladeen.

And the Swine flu crisis is ALL OBAMA'S FAULT!! Biden was silenced after saying he told his family not to fly and a whitehouse spokesman put his spin on what he really meant. If I wanted to waste time , I could copy and paste it again ..and Obama saying it was no big deal, but if it is..we will be well prepared. Really? This is well prepared?? Obama is all upset because some Swiss company or Australian company isn't sending the vaccine fast enough!! So see..it is their fault. However, a staff member wasn't allowed on his plane returning from Mexico because he had the sniffles. And his family has been vaccinated since April. But it is all good that our kids go off to school without a vaccine even available.

The Bush blaming has become comical and is starting to make any person that isn't blinded by him being some sort of savior, view Obama as an idiot. They pumped up a bunch of numbers..like jobs created and saved, and cash for clunkers (ignoring the billions now needed to get rid of the clunkers.) to make it look like he has saved the economy. And he has basically done nothing but tie up congress over some lame plan he has for healthcare. All that aside...that gets old, and lame. But his lack of action is now costing real lives of children and adults here, and lives in Afgahnastan. He can make decide on a place to eat on date night, which night he will do Letterman or an ad for George Lopez..but he can't use our resources to develop a vaccine over the entire summer when people were dying in Mexico and we have Mexicans streaming into this country daily?? And he can't decide how many troops will make a bandaid in Afgahnastan?? There is no excuse for this, or in his words..this is unacceptable, and Let me make this clear.

Regardless if there were or not, Saddam said he had them and showed he would use them by gassing his own people. I did post the voting records in the house and senate on going to iraq, and they voted to go..Including Hillary Clinton. And when Obama ran for Senate, he said he had opposed it..but due to Democrats voting for it , he changed his views and said he was for it. Sound familiar? So how does that compute to Bush getting the blame for the whole thing?

Every single issue about Obama always starts with ..well..Bush did this or Bush did that.I have seen quiet a few Presidents through the years and I have never..ever seen one of them (good or bad) blame the other guy like this clown.

rk.........you may recall on the New Orleans mess, it was a "Hurricaine"....there was no way to know where it might strike. For the past 100 years they have come and gone and none hit New Orleans....this time was different.

Sooooooo, it's fair to say while there was a potential problem, it was not a defined problem. Bush expected the Mayor to do something and the Governor to do something and it was less than 24 hours later, when both laid down on the job, that Bush initiated reasonable steps to deal with the crisis.

Obama has known about the Swine Flu for several months and there has been no possibility it was not for real. So, the time came for action and guess who dropped the ball.

Shouldn't we place 100% of the blame for the fact that only two priority cases have been duly put at the top of the list.....

Obama's two daughters
Terrorists at GitMo.

Makes me feel warm and toasty all over to know someone is looking out for us.

Lets give him 16% of GNP and let him set up a new health system

Generous treatment of first-time offenders is a gamble that only one lesson will be needed to change course from becoming a career criminal.Where I live, the jail is so crowded they have to release a prisoner every time a new convict comes in the front door.
