Maxine and Gary Glunt Monroe

Maxine (Glunt) Monroe was born in Agency, Mo., on October 31, 1922. She was carried out as a newborn during a flood, moving to St. Joseph. She resided there until 1941 when she moved to California as a bride. She married Charles Glunt from Lake Worth, Fla. He was a professional baseball player. After years of traveling, they settled down to raise their family in Florida.

Maxine moved back to St. Joseph in 1982 to be close to family. Her children are: Kenneth (Lorna) Glunt, Norman, Okla.; Jack (Carla) Glunt, Tallahassee, Fla.; Gary (Sharon) Glunt, Parkville, Mo.; and Betty Tichenor, St. Joseph. Two daughters, Joyce Lynn and Judith Phillips, are deceased. Maxine is blessed with 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Maxine and Gary will celebrate at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. today in the Isaac Community Building, 1001 Charles St. No gifts, please; however, cards may be sent to Maxine at 3804 A Charles St., St. Joseph, MO 64506.

Gary Glunt was born and raised in Lake Worth, Fla., on November 1, 1955. He graduated from John I. Leonard High School and went right into the U.S. Army, stationed in Texas and Germany. After his discharge from the Army, he moved to St. Joseph, where he met and married Sharon Landis in 1980. They now live in Parkville, Mo.

He attended and graduated from Missouri Western State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He went on to get his master’s degree in business administration at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. Gary is teaching college courses and doing business consulting.

Gary and Sharon have two daughters, Kara White and her husband of North Kansas City and Kristie of the home.

Gary and his mother, Maxine Monroe, invite you to come join them as they are blessed to share this day with their family and friends. No gifts, please. Your presence is their present!
