David Murray - "The Devil Tried to Kill Me." (Justin Time)
(Press Release)
(Press Release) Saxophonist David Murray employs tow Gwo Ka Master drummers and vocalists Klod Kiavue and Francois Ladrezeau, in his spirited, groove-teeming follow-up to 2004's critically acclaimed Gwo Ka Masters recording "Gwotet."
Special guest vocalist Taj Mahal brings his gritty voice to the rhythm rich session on two tracks, the relaxed and celebratory "Africa" and the funky "Southern Skies."
Sista Kee takes the vocal lead on the percussively brightened title track while the Gwo Ka drummers take the lead singing the rippling "Congo."
The final track "Canto Oneguine" is a swinging, Afro-pop tinged beauty.
