Coat distribution is today
The Salvation Army will distribute coats to St. Joseph residents in need at its annual coat distribution from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Individuals and families can pick up coats at The Salvation Army, 602 Messanie St. There are no income guidelines for those who want to receive a coat; however, proof of residency is required, and all who are in need of a coat must be present. Faith United Baptist has fall gathering
Faith United Baptist Church, 8400 S.W. V Highway, will be hosting its annual fall gathering starting at 3 p.m. today. There will be a bonfire, bobbing for apples, a moon bounce and hot dogs. Jeff Buckles in concert
Southern gospel recording artist Jeff Buckles will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. today at Wallace Christian Church in Wallace, Mo. The concert is open to the public.
Mr. Buckles has had two hit singles on the Top 100 International Country Music Chart and Worldwide Mainstream Country Music Chart, as well as the European Christian Country Music Chart. He recently signed a management deal with Evie Hawkins Agency in Nashville.
Veterans service at Cornerstone Church

New pastor at Trinity Presbyterian
Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1108 S. 33rd St., will hold a special service at 4 p.m. Nov. 8. The Rev. Heather Walchar will be installed as Trinity’s first official pastor since the merger of Westminister Presbyterian Church and Second Presbyterian Church. A short reception will follow the service.

Guest speaker at Greater Jesus Tabernacle
Greater Jesus Tabernacle, 28th Street and Mitchell Avenue, will have a guest testimonial in the person of the Rev. Esther Reynolds at its 11 a.m. service on Nov. 8. The Rev. Reynolds has been a volunteer in Missouri correctional institutions since 1991. She and her late husband, Raymond Reynolds, have ministered in spiritual counseling for the inmates and in providing music during Sunday and Thursday evening services.
Events at Hope Fellowship
Hope Fellowship Church, located at 2921 N. Belt Highway, will have its monthly Family Fellowship Night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11. The evening will begin with devotions led by Carter Drake and the praise team. The meal will consist of a spaghetti supper with dessert and drink. Following the meal, individuals of all ages including nursery, elementary, junior high, high school and adults will divide into study groups. The adult Bible study will be entitled, “Bible Promises for Divine Healing” and will be led by the Rev. Earnestine Blakley. Those in need of healing will be prayed for during the course of the study. At 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, Hope Fellowship Church will celebrate Discipleship Day during its worship service. Special music will be provided by the J-Boyz, Jonathan and Jackson Stickler. The public is invited.
Harvest dinner at Helena UMC
Helena United Methodist Church, Third and Sycamore streets in Helena, Mo., will host an annual harvest dinner and bazaar Nov. 14. Free-will donations will be accepted for the dinner, which will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include turkey and ham, sides and homemade desserts. The bazaar will open at 10 a.m. and will offer homemade pies, cakes and candy, homemade crafts and a white elephant table. All unsold and leftover items and food will be auctioned off after dinner, at about 1:30 p.m.
Turkey dinner at Gower Christian
Gower Christian Church, 203 S. Third St. in Gower, Mo., will host a turkey and smoked pork loin dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 3 through 12 and free for children under age 3. Carry-out dinners are available. There also will be a craft bazaar. Ladies of Charity to meet

Concert at Gospel Music Heritage
Gospel Music Heritage, located at 102 Lewis St. in Edgerton, Mo., will host John Petersen of Tilden, Neb., in concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 21. He is a gospel singer and evangelist who travels full-time throughout the United States and wherever else he is invited. The concert will include many styles of music, including hymns, southern gospel, country gospel, contemporary gospel and patriotic songs.
