Call me crazy
This is in reference to the Fort Hood shooting. Call me crazy, but isn’t the main reason our soldiers are in the United States military is to protect and defend our country? So at the risk of sounding prejudiced, why in the world would a Muslim even bother to join the military if she or he doesn’t want to defend the people of America?
Balancing act
To the caller who claimed to have “witnessed the most outrageous news conference by a president,” it wasn’t a press conference. It was his previously scheduled appearance at a Native American conference. President Obama did a wonderful balancing job of giving credit to the conference while officially and somberly acknowledging the Fort Hood tragedy. What is disgraceful is this caller’s undue criticism of our president.
Cane mutiny
I have talked to a friend of mine yesterday. She could not believe what had happened. She is retired from the Air Force. She and her husband both. She went out to buy groceries and asked them if they were giving the military discounts since it was Veterans Day. And they told her, “Yes. A cane.” Now, what a slap in the face. I cannot believe that a company would do something like that. All veterans do not need canes.
Bag heist
I am calling in response to the little article in “It’s your call” called “Bag thief.” I wanted to say that five weeks ago I was in Wal-Mart and a similar thing happened to me. I was grocery shopping and getting a sandwich at Subway and I turned around and a middle-aged lady and man were taking off with my shopping cart full of groceries.
Way to go
I would like to say a big thank-you to the Applebee’s restaurant association for giving the veterans a free meal yesterday. It was very kind of them and very generous.
Tear down
this wall
I have to agree with the caller of “PR move” that Ronald “Bonzo” Reagan had absolutely nothing to do with the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Tear down this wall:
I'm SURE that's the typical liberal left party line!! How HORRIBLE for the leftists in our country if, by some slim chance, President Reagan DID have some affect on the crumbling wall!!
I'd remind you that your undignified reference to President Reagan is an indication of your ignorance and makes you less of an American. I seldom agree with President Obama, but I still respect him as the leader of our nation. I'm continually offended at how dismissive and disrespectful many can be toward our leaders. Dissent if you must, but have some respect, please. That goes for people on BOTH sides.....
balancing act,
How right you are. Why should we expect him to interrupt yet another photo-op for something as pety as a terrorist attack? I mean, as long as there weren't any Muslims killed, everything it can just wait until later, right?
THE GUY IS PATHETIC!
Well said pops.
****What is disgraceful is this caller’s undue criticism of our president.***
You mean like this??
***I have to agree with the caller of “PR move” that Ronald “Bonzo” Reagan had absolutely nothing to do with the fall of the Berlin Wall.**
Lets see...Obama BOZO fits. Pretty pathetic when you have to attack Ronald Reagan.I can tell you one thing. If there weren't term limits and his health would have been better, he would have been elected for another 4 years.
I had the unique fortune to live in Berlin during the time the wall fell (father flew border patrol along the wall as an Army aviator). I also saw Reagan speak when he came and gave a speech at Tempelhof Airport. It always amuses me when people make absolute assanine claims without even a shred of proof or experience. I was there. Reagan made a difference. There may have been a myriad of factors involved, but to state Reagan had NOTHING to do with it are the words of someone that probably needs to get out more.
Im a decmo I back Obama - President Reagan defeated the communist world, he lead to the fall of the wall. His advisors knew Russia would economy could not keep up with the arms race. The arms race was not about a better military, it was to break a goverment, it worked.
The warning signs before the fall of the USSR:
economy in peril
the countries of the world against them
a young charasmatic leader (Gorbachev) promising hope and change
Stuck in a hopeless war in Afganistan
dissent among their own citizens
hey wait... that's enough of that
Paladin, A salute to your Dad for his service, he was on the cutting edge of the cold war. I'm glad you were able to see past the politics to understand the accomplishments of the President in ending that chapter of history. And yes I spent a lot of time in the corridors supplying island Berlin.
I'm completely baffled by the ignorance shown by some. Seriously, Reagan had nothing to do with the fall of the Berlin Wall? Do you even know why there was a wall to begin with? Ronald Reagan was the reason why Communist Russia fell. He was able to work with Mikhail Gorbachev and end the arms race and the cold war with the INF Treaty among others. He exhausted the USSR's financial resources and has been given credit by many world leaders as a DIRECT reason for the fall of communism. As Margaret Thatcher said, "Ronald Reagan had a higher claim than any other leader to have won the Cold War for liberty and he did it without a shot being fired."

Yikes....I saw the same comparison to the fall of the Roman empire. Money devalued by 200 percent, an over taxed population, leaders spending lavishly on crap, while demanding more and more taxes to cover it.
Rome had the Circus, we have the Congress
I am also digusted that Obama brushed off the killings at Ft. Hood as "horrific incident". This was nothing short of a terrorist attack. The way he reacted was very dissapointing. He entered the conference with a smile on his face. He thanked the department of the interior for organizing and assembling the conference. He thanked his cabinet members. He literally gave a "shout out". Barry Obama should have addressed the conference about the Ft. Hood shooting first and foremost, and then continued with his conference agenda. His reaction showed that he had no grief over or even cared about the terrorist attack which unfolded that day.
The warning signs before the fall of the USSR:
economy in peril (inflicted by Reagan)
the countries of the world against them(lead by Reagan)
a young charasmatic leader (Gorbachev) promising hope and change(he gave it to them... with the help of Reagan)
Stuck in a hopeless war in Afganistan(again Reagan ie Reagan Doctrine)
dissent among their own citizens (hmmm could it be.... because of Reagan)
Reagan is to Russia as Obama is to America. Both American presidents led to the fall of an empire. But wait. Its not too late yet for America. Three cases are pending against Obama aka Barry Soetoro. Berg vs Obama[Third Circuit Court of Appeals No. 08 – 4340]; Berg as Relator v. Obama; [U. S. District Court for the District of Columbia No. 08-cv-01933]; and Hollister vs. Soetoro a/k/a Obama, et al [U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, No. 09-5080] If found guilty it could mean the end of a fraud's presidency.
a_ociargan,
While I undersand your anxiety regarding our nation and its future, and while I understand you dislike President Obama, he was STILL elected by the people and is STILL our president. Until such time as he is either removed, or voted out, it offends me that you, and others, show him such disrespect. I disagree with almost EVERYTHING he proposes or stands for, but he's still the President. I disliked the tremendouse disrespect people showed President Bush, his father, and President Reagan. I cannot condone similar disrespect toward the leader we have now, regardless of the differences in idealism.
I agree that we should respect the office of the President. My feelings were indeed stretched as Jimmy Carter tore down this Country and again when Billy Clinton demonstrated such poor judgment and frankly one more time, when George Bush violated (repeatedly) conservative economic principles, but President Obama is a new challenge.
I could rationalize the others as "mistakes". Obama is not in that mold. His actions are carefully calculated and are being pursued methodically and relentlessly. He is committed to destroying everything about this Country that I subscribe to. He is attacking the fundamental economic system (capatilism) that has made us prosper. He is attacking our culture......"We are NOT a Christian nation".
and I don't need to recite everything, but it is all clearly opposed to everything I support.
So, I'm not sure of exactly how to deal with this.
My biggest concern at the moment is timing. He's only been President for 9 months and already he's done significant damage and is clearly committed to more. This is not a normal situation and we need to initiate remedial action.
pops,
He may have been elected by the American people , but fraudulently at that. So I feel I am justified with what I have said. People have wanted Arnold to run for president. He asks to amend the constitution. When it came to Obama, he said to HECK with the constitution. I believe it was 1981 when Obama admittedly traveled to Pakistan. At this time absolutely no American citizen was permitted to travel to Pakistan. This means he traveled there on either an Indonesian or Kenyan passport. In Kenya there is a shrine built in his grandmother's hometown to "Kenya's Son". If he was born outside the US and his father was not American then he is not an American. His mother was only 18. Constitution says the parents must at least be 19. Even if he held dual citizenship, HE CANNOT BECOME PRESIDENT.
And despite his socialist ideals, I cannot call him a socialist yet for he has failed to do or follow through in anything he says. What has he done in office so far besides get on track to spend even more than the Bush administration.
If he were a "normal president", I would still not like him but I would agree with you pops. I would not disrespect him. BUT HE IS A THREAT TO AMERICA AND THE AMERICAN WAY! His presidency has defrauded America!
In comparision of the Roman Empire, the Romans did have a Senate, however the ruler controled it's military, that is why most of the Generals were killed, rulers feared the army would follow generals against them.
Our goverment does not give control of its military to the President, he must have approval to engage the military.
other comparisons -
Rome rulership expanded to far geographicaly
taxes kept raising in Rome
Defeated by organized no mans not a large armey
decay of morality
Last time I checked Hawaii was part of the United States, correct me if I am wrong. If there were wrong doing with the election then the Supreme Court of this land I am sure would have the case before them. It's sad that a year after the election that people are still so bitter that their side lost. I may not have been happy with past elections yet I accepted the results, stood behind our leader, and respected the President. I may not always with each desissions all of our Presidents yet I was not so disrespectful as to call them names other than President or by their true name. Many times I look at some of these comments and see nothing more than children at recess who should be standing against the wall because they don't play well with others. I voted for our current President yet I disagree with somethings his administration has done. I don't think anyone who has voted for the winning side, completly 100% always agrees with every choice that their elected offical has made. Our nation needs to come together rather than focus on tearing down the other side. I speak of everyone on both sides of the issues. There is always a middle ground and often, too often many want it all or nothing. We can't get things done with that type approach and it only causes hard feelings and anomosity between the good people of this nation. Let's focus on making this country a better place for everyone reguardless of ones religion or political affliation, I have faith that one day we will be able to reach this goal. I know we can but how long it takes depends on each of us, let's start this change today before it becomes to late.
"If he was born outside the US and his father was not American then he is not an American. His mother was only 18. Constitution says the parents must at least be 19."
Documents produced to this point indicate President Obama was born in Hawaii....which was a state even when he was a baby. As for the Constitution requiring the mother to be at least 19 to qualify....I don't see that anywhere in the Constitution whatsoever. Sorry, but in that regard, I feel the poster is incorrect.
There were too many on the left who insisted former President Bush was elected illegally and that his presidency was illegitimate. It's very infantile and asanine to try making the same claim, just to get back at them. Unless there are solid claims to be made, these pot shots are nothing short of sophomoric.
Do I agree with the President? No....almost never. Do I feel his policies are undermining our nation? Yes. However, he's ONLY the President. He has little power. The Congress still makes policy...not the President. He could be advocating ANYTHING, but until the Congress enacts his policies, nothing happens. Contact your representative or senator and make your feelings and wishes known. THEY are your representative. Get involved....
BHO exemplifies the Democrat logo, a jackass with long ears who brays incessantly and stubbornly moves the country down the evil path of socialism.
