Local casino sees increased business

Terrible's St. Jo Frontier Casino saw a 13 percent gain in admissions and a 5 percent revenue increase last month, compared to October of 2008.

The latest figures from the Missouri Gaming Commission show that the St. Joseph casino tallied 109,899 admissions in October and $3.1 million in gross revenue.

For the first four months of the fiscal year, the St. Joseph casino's revenue is up 3 percent and its admissions have increased 15 percent. Only Lumiere Place, in St. Louis, posted a larger percentage increase in admissions over the last four months. Its increase was 19 percent.

For Missouri's 12 riverboat casinos, total admissions are up 3 percent and revenue has increased 5 percent since July 1, when the fiscal year began.

In the Kansas City market, Isle of Capri posted the largest percentage increases in the last four months, with 10 percent growth in admissions and a 7 percent increase in revenue.

Ameristar in Kansas City led the western part of the state with 2.5 million admissions and $80 million in revenue over the last four months. Terrible's in St. Joseph had 452,716 admissions and $12.7 million in revenue during the same period.
