SAVANNAH, Mo. - Need a break from television and shopping? Stop by the Andrew County Museum and Historical Society, which will be open Friday and Saturday.
"If you have relatives or visitors in town this weekend, bring them out to see our new exhibit, 'A Rural Way of Life'," said Harold Johnson, board president.
The museum recently completed this agricultural history of Andrew County, which documents the changes as farming methods became mechanized and electricity changed the rural way of life. The exhibition features artifacts, photos and hands-on activities that tell the stories of farms, towns, businesses and people who have called Andrew county home, said Sue McClaran, chairwoman for the exhibition steering committee.
The museum's annual winter event will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 5.

About a week ago, the Museum sponsored a speaker, Jim Spawn, who did a multimedia program called Ruts and Roadsters. It was very interesting, informative and funny. ACM is going to continue to have more in the future. If you haven't seen the Museum's newest gallery, you are in for a real treat!! A Rural Way of Life opened early October and it's one of the best little museums I've ever seen. The people at ACM did it up right!! There are beautiful informational panels and artifacts and even interactive displays. There is actually so much to see and read that you can't do it in just one visit. Very, very nice! Here's an idea--visit the Museum on December 5, 6-8 p.m., during their Annual Winter Event and get in on the Museum, live entertainment, snacks, and a raffle for Christmas trees and gift baskets. I went last year and it was GREAT FUN!!
