Proceedings

on hold for officer charged with

possession

ATCHISON, Kan. — Atchison County District Court proceedings are on hold for a 26-year-old Weston, Mo., police officer recently arrested in Kansas on narcotic possession charges.

Kyle A. Zumbrunn of Atchison, Kan., is headed back to Atchison County District Court in two weeks in light of his hired counsel’s motion to continue the case.

J. David Farris, an Atchison attorney, advised Judge Martin Asher that he and the prosecution have not reviewed reports from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Mr. Zumbrunn was arrested following a KBI investigation on allegations that he sold oxycodone and morphine to an undercover informant. Charges were filed a day later and he was released on $40,000 bond. Charges against Mr. Zumbrunn included the sale or distribution of prescription narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful use of a communications facility and no drug tax stamp.
