BETHANY, Mo. — The Northwest Missouri State Car & Tractor Show will be held Sunday on the Harrison County Courthouse square in Bethany, Mo.
The show and associated events will benefit two causes. Half of the proceeds will be donated to the Harrison County Hospice. The other half will be donated to Road to Recovery, an American Cancer Society service program that transports cancer patients to and from their treatments.
For the past four years, Harrison County Hospice has provided nearly 5,000 patient days of care to more than 100 clients.
A flea market and sidewalk sale will be held on the square Saturday and Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. both days. Individual spaces will be available — first come, first served — for $10 apiece.
Meals will be served by the 16th Street Bistro and Bear’s Aloha Cafe. Donations of $1 per plate will be made to Harrison County Hospice/Cancer. On Saturday, the South Harrison Jazz Band will perform beginning at 1:30 p.m. The group Boots & Bells will entertain at 4 p.m. Musical entertainment is planned throughout Sunday.
Registration for the car show starts at 9 a.m. Ballots must be turned in by 2 p.m. The show is set to end at 3 p.m.
First- and second-place trophies will be awarded in 14 classes, ranging from early 20th century classic cars and pickups to special interest/race cars. An additional trophy will be given for best of show.
A dedication for a mural honoring early 20th century Major League Baseball star Babe Adams is set for 2 p.m. Sunday. A member of the family will attend, according to event organizer John Ross. Girl Scouts will also participate in the dedication.
Mr. Adams lived the latter years of his life in Mount Moriah, Mo., and became Harrison County’s favorite son. He spent the majority of his career as a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He won three games in the team’s 1909 World Series win over the Detroit Tigers.
