A 52 year old father has been charged in the death of his 7 week old baby boy.

Ronny D. Rathman is being held in the Buchanan County jail in lieu of a $200,000 bond after being charged with the infant's death, Friday night.

St. Joseph Police Commander, Jim Connors, said the baby was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center and was unresponsive. Connors says Ronny Rathman brought his son to the hospital. Around 8:15 p.m., Connors said the baby was pronounced dead.

The baby was transported to Topeka Friday for an autopsy. The preliminary results show the child died from head trauma.

Connors says Rathman was taken into custody Thursday night for investigation of endangering the welfare of a child.

The mother, Angela Rathman, is charged with the class c felony for abuse of a child. She has been in jail since September ninth on that charge that also involved Donald, the 7 week old child.
