Richard Pioch turned 85 on October 1. He was born in St. Joseph.

He married Celetene “Stene” Spaeth on January 28, 1948, at the St. Joseph Cathedral.

Richard served in the army during World War II. He retired from St. Joseph Optical after 49 years as an optician.

His children and their spouses are: Jean Swymeler, St. Joseph; Jim and Linda Pioch, Urbandale, Iowa; Cathy Weidmaier, Kansas City, Mo.; and Paul and Karen Pioch, Algonquin, Ill.
