by St. Joseph News-Press
Monday, October 12, 2009

Weather permitting, the Missouri Department of Transportation will work with construction companies and maintenance employees this week on a number of area roads.

Some routes will close to traffic, and some will have the number of lanes reduced. Motorists are reminded to reduce their speeds and drive with caution. In addition to the roads listed below, numerous state routes in the area also are being patched, asphalted, oiled or receiving culvert replacements:

Agency — Asphalt patching will be done in various locations starting Wednesday on Missouri Route FF between U.S. Highway 169 and Missouri Route O, which reopened Friday. Crews will be patching on Route O between Route FF and Route A. The work is expected to take two weeks.

Halls — Missouri Route KK in Buchanan County will close for a bridge replacement project beginning today. Crews will replace the current bridge built in 1936 over Puckett Slough, located west of U.S. Highway 59. The demolition and construction of the new bridge is expected to take four to six weeks.

Craig — Concrete repairs are scheduled to begin Tuesday between the 92-mile marker on Interstate 29, near Craig, and the 98-mile marker on the interstate, near Corning. The interstate will narrow to one lane in various locations until the work is completed Friday.
