Police arrest a suspect in a stolen property investigation after he was holed up in a room at the Budget Inn Motel, Thursday afternoon.

A standoff at the Budget Inn Motel on the North Belt Highway ended peacefully, Thursday afternoon.

According to Police Commander, Jim Connors, officers were at the motel for an investigation involving stolen property. The undercover officers were trying to reacquire some stolen property, when the man they were dealing with, went back into a motel room and wouldn't come out. Commander Connors wouldn't confirm if the man was armed or not.

The Special Response Team was brought in around 3:30 and surrounded the room where the man was believed to be. Connors said that through negotiation and other parties calling the man's phone, trying to get him to respond, it worked. The man came out of the room and was taken custody just after 5:00pm.

There were also reports a woman was with the suspect at the time of the arrest. Connors also said that the man taken into police custody was "familiar" to the police, but declined to comment further.
