With districts upon us, everyone’s record goes back to 0-0 — a fact nearly every coach in the game is more than eager to tell anyone at this time of year.
My record, thankfully, will not reset.
In fact, I’m just fine with my six-game lead over Ross this late in the year. The biggest temptation I face is getting too squirrelly and going against my logical leanings too often. My gut tells me to go with Savannah after I watched the Savages’ defense shut down Maryville a week ago. But last time I checked, the Hornets still have Bryce Young and have a strong late-season track record with only one district loss in the pastthree years.
Like the top schools in the MEC have been doing all year, I just need to play good defense here and protect the lead. That’s one cliche you can take to the bank — whether its on the gridiron or in a pick ’em league.
There’s a lot of really nice matchups to look forward to this weekend, especially up and down the KCI and MEC conferences. Thanks as always go out to the folks at NWMO Sports for the weekly selections. On to this week’s picks:
