Pictures Of Poverty
by Bob Heater
Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Poverty, as seen through the camera of area photographers, young and old alike.

Tuesday was the opening for a collection of "Pictures In Poverty" at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art presented by Community Action Partnership.

The exhibit featured photographs of a building in repair, a group of homeless men, a portrait of a can collector and an abandoned car serving as shelter.

There are three catagories in the exhibit; professional, amateur and high school with each judged separately.

The photorgraphs were taken in Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton or Dekalb counties...the four counties where C.A.P. offers assistance to families fighting poverty. The organization helps with utility assistance, life skill training, head start programs and affordable housing among other things.

"Pictures Of Poverty" will be on display at the Albrech-Kemper on Frederick Boulevard through November 1st. You can find out more information on the exhibit and C.A.P. by clicking here.
