Closing Fairleigh station

doesn’t make sense

Fairleigh Station being closed, and the public can comment afterwards? Why are they cutting back services and complaining about costs at the same time they are installing GPS units in all the delivery vehicles? Pretty sure that the mail delivery people know their way around town.

With St. Joseph’s senior citizen population, a reduction in locations just makes it harder for these folks to get around. The pharmacy and dry cleaner on that block have a much higher number of seniors using it and now the USPS wants to take it away? They have already removed almost every mailbox in town. This isn’t about serving the citizens, it’s about making life easier for the few at a cost to the many.

Maybe the DNR has

flubbed other situations

With all this business about the Missouri Department of Natural Resources not reporting E. coli results in lakes, maybe it’s time that the federal government investigate the DNR for its handling of the cancer scare at Cameron, Mo.

It’s obvious that the DNR cares more about image than protecting the health of the public at large. Isn’t it just possible that this bumbling, bureaucratic, top-heavy government agency has mishandled investigations in a number of cases?

I think the citizens of Missouri deserve better protection because it’s obvious that the DNR does not have the best interests of its clients, the people of Missouri, at heart.

Thanks for the care

at veterans home

I live at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Mo. I have a son in Iraq and a granddaughter in Afghanistan.

I wish to thank all the employees who care for us here. They are the best.

According to folklore, In Africa they used to round up the old people and put them on a raft in the river and they became food for the crocodiles. The Eskimos did the same by putting their aged on a cake of ice and became food for the polar bears. We thank you, taxpayers, for our home at Cameron.

Larry,
From one tax payer, me, you are most welcome. My thoughts and prayers go out to your son and grandaughter and that they return home safe. There are great people at not only that home, but all VA homes and I urge anyone to take time, visit, and talk to the residents and staff. The staff of these places take care of those who have given their time in defense of this country and many have seen some pretty rough stuff out there. We can gloss it over all we want to in politics and such, but the bottom line is there are people, countries and groups out there who want this country and us who believe in it gone and will do anything to achieve that. These people in the homes have seen some really bad stuff and the homes along with their staff help them get their lives back. We need to listen to those in the homes and learn from them as to what goes on and what it takes to defend this country and its way of life.

You guys are as bad as the media. All this gentleman wanted to do was express his thanks, and you've tainted it with your political opinions. Nice job.
