Arrest made in home invasion
More charges expected for second man

Buchanan County sheriff’s deputies executed two search warrants and arrested one man Wednesday in connection with an Oct. 13 home invasion and robbery at Lake Contrary.

The Buchanan County prosecutor’s office charged Creadele Harrison, 36, with felony receiving stolen property. The arrest was in connection with the 11 p.m. home invasion on Southwest Lakefront Lane, when Mr. Harrison and another man allegedly wore hooded sweatshirts and masks while carrying weapons.

Mr. Harrison and the other suspect allegedly tied up the father while making threats to the man and his frightened wife as their two children slept in a nearby bedroom, said Sgt. Shawn Collie of the sheriff’s department. Mr. Harrison and the other man were allegedly looking for narcotic medications and a safe, Mr. Collie said.

No shots were fired during the home invasion, but two men were reported at the time to have stolen guns, drugs and jewelry. Deputies recovered some forensic evidence and it has been sent to a lab for testing.

Property allegedly stolen from the residence was recovered when deputies executed their search warrant early Wednesday morning, Mr. Collie said.

Associate Circuit Judge Ronald Taylor will arraign Mr. Harrison at 8:15 a.m. Friday. Bond was set at $4,500. However, Mr. Harrison is also being held on a probation violation and remains in the Buchanan County Jail.

A second man of interest was found at another location and taken into custody Wednesday. Deputies are investigating the man’s connection to Mr. Harrison and the victims. The department anticipates that federal charges could be filed against the man today.

A deputy fired his weapon during the execution of the search warrants, said Sheriff Mike Strong. While it’s believed that this was an accidental shooting, it did violate procedures and a personnel investigation is ongoing to determine the facts.

Information gained, if appropriate, will be included in future training, Mr. Strong said. If necessary, appropriate disciplinary action will be meted out to the deputy. The department usually does not report the results of personnel reviews to the public.

it has got to hard to be in the process of arresting someone and not be scared of being injured. i hope they don't go too hard on the deputy, it is better to be overly cautious and alive than be lax and hurt or dead.as long as no one was injured , i would say, no harm done. not saying he doesn't need more training, just that he and we all make mistakes.
