The Bruce Springsteen concert Monday night at Kansas City's Sprint Center was canceled due to what a Sprint spokesperson described as a "death in his immediate family."
The concert was canceled just under 2 hours before Springsteen and The E Street Band were to take the stage. Kansas City Police confirm that they investigated the death of one of Springsteen's road crew that was characterized as "non-suspicious." The KCPD spokesman said the death occurred at the Kansas City Intercontinental Hotel but would not release the name of the deceased. The police spokesperson also said they could not confirm that this was the death that caused the cancellation of the sold out concert.
Some ticket holders we spoke with said they found out about the cancellation when they were approaching the concert just outside the doors. They had already paid $20 to park in a business parking lot nearly 3 blocks from the venue.
Sprint Center spokesmen said that all tickets would be refunded and the band hoped they could re-schedule the KC concert at a later date.
