A St. joseph man accused of distributing child pornography over the internet pleaded guilty in federal court, Tuesday.
According to the US Attorney's office in Kansas City, 48 year old Daren Holcomb admitted he used Kazaa. the peer to peer file sharing software, to search for and download files of child pornography. Files on his computer were also available for other Kazaa users to download.
An undercover law enforcement officer in Maine, downloaded an image of child porn from Holcomb's computer. Authorities also found at least two child images and two child porn videos on Holcomb's computer. 9,000 deleted files were recovered, hundreds of which were known images of child pornography. The hard drive also contained hundreds of web sites with titles suggesting they contained child porn, as well as emails that he bought a subscription to a child porn web site.
Holcomb faces up to 20 years in federal prison without parole, plus a $250,000 fine.
