36th Street Food & Drink To Locate In Mitchell Plaza
by Bob Heater
Thursday, October 29, 2009

A popular St. Joseph restaurant has found a new home.

36th Street Food & Drink is returning to a unique location. Soon, 36th Street will move west to 11th Street.and the Mitchell Park Plaza.

Located in the former Mead paper factory, Mitchell Plaza announced the relocation of the fine dining restaurant Thursday. The restaurant will be located on the first floor mall of the converted factory.

Mitchell Plaza Manager, Nancy Lee, tells us plans are to start construction soon and have the restaurant open by the end of the year. She says the new location will offer more seating than the Belt Highway building and some things will remind diners of the former location. Including some of the booths, tables, decor and even the bar out of the former Belt location. She says it will be a mixture of old and new as elements of the previous 36th Street mix with the historic look and feel of the former paper factory.

Lee says a convenience store will also open in the mall soon and there are plans for an art studio, a beauty salon and maybe even an urgent care center in the future.
