An international recital

Dr. Matthew Edwards, associate professor of music and director of keyboard studies at Missouri Western State University, will give a solo recital at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in Potter Hall Theater. The recital will include works by Beethoven, Messiaen and Scriabin and is the same program he will perform at the Seoul Arts High School in South Korea on Sept. 16. An offering of Handl and Hayden

Dr. William Richardson, associate professor of music, will present a faculty trumpet recital at 8 p.m. Sept. 8, in Charles Johnson Theater on the Northwest Missouri State University campus. The concert is free and open to the public. Sharing the stage with Dr. Richardson will be faculty colleague Dr. Charles Badami, instructor of music and collaborative pianist. Featured works include "Suite in D Major" by Handel, "Concerto in E-flat Major" by Haydn and "Quatre variations sur un thÃme de Domenico Scarlatti" by the 20th century French composer Marcel Bitsch. Fall fun for pre-schoolers

Fall storytime sessions begin this month at Rolling Hills Consolidated Library. Storytimes feature fiction and non-fiction picture books, songs, rhymes, crafts and short films. They are open to children ages 3 to 6, and younger siblings also are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is suggested so the library can have enough supplies.

Storytimes at the Belt Branch, 1904 N. Belt Hwy., will have the theme "Books to Build On" and feature the books nominated for the Missouri Building Block Picture Book Award. They will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 16 through Nov. 19. Family Storytimes are offered at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays from Sept. 17 through Nov. 19.

Storytimes at the Savannah Branch, 514 W. Main, will have the theme "Sound Out and Sing Along." Children will learn a new song each week, create music, make animal sounds and read fun books, including the Building Block award nominees. The sessions will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Sept. 22 through Nov. 25.
