Schools group names manager

Chris Roepe confident about campaign

The community team working to pass the St. Joseph School District levy in November announced its campaign manager Wednesday.

Chris Roepe has agreed to serve as the campaign manager for "Our Children. Our Future. Our Decision," the levy's citizens group.

"I believe in the St. Joseph community," Mr. Roepe said. "I'm just glad to be able to help out."

Mr. Roepe had served as chief of staff to Missouri Senate President Pro Tem Charlie Shields. He recently resigned that position and will begin a new job in November.

"It will be in Jefferson City," was all the 2003 Missouri Western State University graduate said he was able to disclose about his new job.

Gary Myers, a spokesman for "Our Children. Our Future. Our Decision," said the group was pleased that Mr. Roepe had agreed to serve as its campaign manager.

"With two months until the Nov. 3 election, we needed someone with extensive campaign experience in St. Joseph," Mr. Myers said.

Mr. Roepe said he would begin working on the campaign immediately. He expressed confidence that the community was doing the right thing for its children.

"Public education is so critical to the success of a community, I am confident voters will get behind this issue and St. Joseph will approve the operating levy on Nov. 3," Mr. Roepe said in a press release.
