A Maryville, Mo., man was killed after being hit by a truck while on his motorcycle Saturday.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, at about 6:45 p.m., Frank Stockman, 25, was ejected from his 2008 Yamaha motorcycle when he was hit by a 1996 Dodge truck driven by Robert Cain, 44, of Maryville, Mo., at the intersection of U.S. Highway 36 and Valley Brook Road in Burlington Junction, Mo.
The report stated Mr. Stockman failed to yield at a stop sign and was hit at an angle by the driver’s side door.
Mr. Stockman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
If the motorcycle hit "at an angle to the driver's side door", and the motorcyclist was the one that ran the stop sign; doesn't that mean the motorcyclist hit the truck, not the other way around?
Please understand, I'm not trying to take anything way from the tragedy of the loss of this young man's life. However, to indicate it like the truck hit the motorcyclist when the description is the other way around, is unfair to the truck driver. He probably already feels horrible enough and shouldn't have to take any blame based on the description of what happened.
Helmet might have saved his life..... That, plus not running a stop sign.
My sympathy goes out to Mr. Stockman's family and friends. And Mr. Cain also, for what you have endured. You are not to blame for this.
The Highway Patrol Report actually states that the motorcycle "IMPACTED" the truck driven by Mr. Cain..
You will be greatly missed Big buddy.
