Sylvia Says: Yummnuts: The name really does say it all
by Sylvia Anderson

Who could say no to trying something called Yummnuts? Yummnuts are a line of all-natural healthy snacks created by Michael Cochrane and Tyler Ricks, former athletes and health advocates, who wanted to make not only a healthy snack, but one that tastes good, too.

In a nutshell, Yummnuts are six different flavors of jumbo cashews that have been dry-roasted without adding oils. The flavors are chocolate, toasted coconut, honey, sea salt, spicy Cajun and chili lime.

I am already a sucker for cashews, so yes, I tried them all. I also had plenty of help from my co-workers. The chocolate, as you can imagine, is addictive. They have just a hint of chocolate — not too sweet, not at all gooey, just right for eating at your desk or in your car or anywhere you need a snack. The coconut, honey and sea salt are the same way — just a hint of flavor and very tasty. If you like a little spice, the spicy Cajun is awesome. The spice is flavorful without being overwhelming.

The only flavor that needs a warning label is the chili lime. It’s in-your-face spicy and should only be eaten by those who enjoy whole jalapeños and other taste-bud shockers.

The bottom line: If you’ve read any of the research lately about nuts, you know that they have protein, fiber and “good” fat, which is supposed to help you lose weight and have a flat belly (as long as you eat them in moderation, of course, and they aren’t roasted in oil). So Yummnuts are clearly a great snack for staying healthy and enjoying what you eat. Or to quote their company motto, “Life is short, remember to say Yum.” And I say, yum, yum, yum, yum, Yummnuts. You can buy eight, 5-ounce bags for $33.97 on amazon.com or their Web site www.yumnutsnaturals.com. Michael says they also will sold at Whole Foods in this area, soon.
