House nixes contribution limits

The Missouri Legislature has repealed campaign contribution limits in the session’s final hour.
A bill from Sen. Charlie Shields, R-St. Joseph, lifts the caps on Aug. 28, so the change will come into play during the November general election.
His effort received staunch opposition from both parties in the House of Representatives, but SB 1038 still slipped by in a close 83-72 vote.

Clothing retailer rallying for cancer patients

Dressbarn is rallying for the American Cancer Society. The retailer will be selling heart key rings at its stores, including the one at the Shoppes at North Village, for $5. The Relay For Life event kicked off on May 12 and runs until August 31, or while supplies last. The company will contribute the entire net profit to the American Cancer Society.
