Vertin steps down as LeBlond's football coach
Steve Vertin resigned his position as Bishop LeBlond’s head football coach Monday afternoon. Longtime Central coach Tony Dudik isn’t a candidate yet. But he might be very soon. Dudik’s name became synonymous with the job last year, but the timing didn’t work out. He stayed at Central for one final season before retiring from the St. Joseph School District.
Maryville drains 10 3-pointers to claim second straight district title
PLATTSBURG, Mo. — Every time a 3-pointer left the hands of a Maryville player on Friday night, Bishop LeBlond’s fans collectively gasped, and 10 times that brief momentum of silent anticipation concluded with a raucous eruption from Maryville’s bench and fans. The Spoofhounds banked on those 10 made 3s to slow the Golden Eagles momentum, extend their own scoring runs and eventually capture the Class 3 District 16 title, 68-52.

LeBlond advances to district championship game
PLATTSBURG, Mo. — Second-seeded South Harrison had crept back and was feeding off its large cheering section. The Bulldogs cut No. 3 Bishop LeBlond’s 19-point second-half lead to six without South Harrison’s top player in the Class 3 District 16 semifinals Wednesday night.

East Buchanan trips up LeBlond boys in district opener
PLATTSBURG, Mo. — A season full of frustrations fouled up Bishop LeBlond on Tuesday night. East Buchanan reaped the reward in Class 3 District 16’s first-round matchup of the fourth and fifth seeds at Plattsburg High School. As the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half, two of LeBlond’s four seniors fouled out, and senior leading scorer Andrew Nellestein picked up a technical foul and played the final 12 minutes with four personals.
