Catherine Ardona Baskins, 64, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009, in the St. Joseph hospital.
She was born June 28, 1945, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Juanita (Sherman) and Charles Berry.
She worked at Whitaker Cable and Galvins Restaurant. She loved to dance and won several dance contests; she also enjoyed playing bingo and Wii games. She was a Baptist.
Catherine was preceded in death by father, Charles Berry; mother, Juanita (Sherman) Miller; and a sister, Marcia Surritte. Survivors include daughters, Brenda (Baskins) Huff and husband, Joey, and their children, Zachary, Trevor, and Emily, of Troy, Kan.; Denise Baskins and her children, Randall and Caton, of Troy, Kan.; a brother, Lee Miller of Belton, Mo.; two sisters: Dianna O’Connell of St. Joseph and Linda Sandker of Columbia, Mo.; and her former husband, Denny Baskins, the father of their children; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 5, at 2 p.m. at the Rupp Funeral Home, Rev. Helen Perman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Ebenezer Cemetery, St. Joseph.
