Norma J. Weir, 79, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at the local hospital.
Norma was born March 2, 1930, to Merle and Freda Grimm in St. Joseph, where she lived all her life and attended Benton High School.
Norma worked at Big Smith Clothing, where she retired and was a member of Savannah Avenue Baptist Church.
She enjoyed sewing and making things for her children and grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Norma married James Weir, June 2, 1951 in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Her parents; one daughter, Constance Weir; one brother, Marvin Grimm; and one sister, Phyllis Parker; also preceded Norma in death.
She is survived by two sons: Richard Weir and fiancée, Regina Bowman; and Mike Weir (Diane); one daughter, Jennifer Bowman (Arthur); one brother, Jack Grimm; and one sister, Patricia Harper, all of St. Joseph; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at the Clark-Sampson Funeral Home with Pastor Jennie Moore officiating. Mrs. Weir will be cremated following the service with inurnment at a later date.
