Read the Republican alternative to the Democrat's health care rationing provision disguised as "comparative effectiveness"

Wright winger you just don't get it do you? do you have insurance? there is already rationing that insurance companies have control of. your talking points prove that the right wing media can mold simple minds with disinformation. i am curious do you have at least a high school education? Not being mean I am just curious.

Name a better way to reduce Medicare and Social Security than to reduce life expectancy through the Obama health plan.

I have good health insurance. I have earned it as part of my pay and benefits. Why should I have to pay for mine and yours too? 0bama needs to stop spending more money than we make.

I work for a major national retailer that offered a health insurance policy to all associates, since the company only offers benefits with insurance to a store manager. The premium would take all or most of the associates monthly wages. This is very common in the retail industry to cut out benefits at the store level to cut cost for wall street expectations, and consumers demand low low prices. Most jobs in the service industry which are the common employement these days, do NOT offer employer paid medical insurance. No one working at any job should be expected to pay most of their income for health care. I really think anyone earning under 25K individual, or 35K family, should be provided free health care for working in low paying service industry jobs. That $1.99 value meal may not be such a good value. I am very good at my job, my customers like my outstanding service and have no idea my employer is unable to offer liveable wages or benefits like health insurance. There are lots of me out there representing large well known companies. Everyone sees us, we are well dressed, educated, and professional.

arch286,
There are plenty of employers that do offer good health insurance to their employees. Perhaps you should look into changing careers instead of just sitting back expecting others to pay for your medical care. I don't ask you to help pay for my utility bills or pay my mortgage, why should you expect me to help pay for your health care?

He

You do not understand my point. Everyday you demand and use services that offer their employees NO health insurance or liveable wages. These are services you need, and demand at a low price. Someone has to do those jobs. We receive 60 applicants a week from people wanting to work in this national retail store that came to St. Joseph because the Chamber wanted ammenities to sell St. Joseph to outside companies. Our customers are some of the most affluent in this region. So next time you dine in a restaurant, shop at the mall, use a taxi cab, use a lawn service, need senior care in home or at a nursing home, the list goes on and on, or even stay at a hotel, the odds are you are being waited on by someone that may not be earning a liveable wage or have health care. I do want you to note that my company does pay a higher wage in major cities, but not here because people are wanting my job. Also you may be shocked but my company has mostly college educated individuals employed on the floor and in management. Yes you need a college degree to be a clerk in a store.

You seem to be the one who doesn't understand. If you are unhappy with your lack of benefits then GET A DIFFERENT JOB! Don't expect everyone else to pay your way through life just because you don't want to put out the effort necessary to find a job that has health insurance you can afford. And if you really do have a college degree and you have made the choice to remain employed as a clerk in a store, then you deserve exactly what you're getting.

He,

No you still do NOT get it. You go to a hotel, do you not expect someone to clean your room, wait on you in the hotel restaurant, etc? While you may think these jobs are for those with low education standards, you are wrong. Service employees represent their compnay brands, and these companies do not and will NOT hire individuals that do not represent their brand image. You demand and use services, and demand that those services be delivered in a professional manner, do you not? To many people are working at jobs with no benefits for a variety of economic and business reasons. My point, national health care, so you and others can enjoy a "lifestyle". "Lifestyle" has hidden cost.

How can you be so obtuse? If you can't see the INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS way out of your situation then it looks like you will just have to live with it. Why bother to try to find another job, right? Why not just sit there and complain and expect others to pay your way through life, right? Other hard-working Americans, who've worked their butts off and have struggled to improve their lives and did what was necessary to get a job (WITH BENEFITS!) so that they could enjoy the life they've EARNED.

People like you make me so damn mad! You would rather blame everyone else for your lack of initiative. Instead of improving your situation, you just sit there making excuses rather than helping yourself! Quit trying to make people feel sorry for you and help YOURSELF just like we've done!

My husband has a very good job, yet insurance premiums on our family or 4 is $750 a month. Amazing. The health care industry has got to change or average citizens will not be able to afford it.

Do you know the names of any insurance companies dealing with health insurance that are going broke? To you people who are happy with your insurance, Obama said you could keep it. I would also ask you, how often have you needed your insurance...yet? Are you on a group policy or are you underwritten, individually? Again, see what happens when you need it. Sad to say, you really won't know how good your insurance is until you need it. Ever heard of pre-existing conditions? Try moving to other insurance companies if you have pre-existing conditions.Try moving to another company when you become older. Good luck.

Dilleygent you are correct. what is sad is all the self rightous, selfish slime that spews dis-information. they must get all their news on one station and cannot see truth due to ignorant patisan habits. they think the government will be rationing their benefits. wonder if they ever needed a procedure that a insurance company would not cover. I guess it is ok for the insurance companies to ration peoples benefits. My point is that the comments I have been reading are very sad. I guess my fellow American is not a popular phrase on the right side of the isle.

Borderpatrol: I know a man who very much defended the insurance companies and how they do things... until he had to pay $25,000 (out of pocket) for a cancer surgery, because his wonderful insurance would not cover him. If you stop to think about it, would continuous raises be quite as important if health insurance weren't so burdensome? I enjoyed your comments about the right side of the isle.

Do you realize we are running a tax payer subsidized health care now? Because if that motorcycle rider, without a helmet, doesn't have insurance, you and I will wind up paying. In the hospital a sign reads that nobody can be turned away. You and I will pay for that accident. As for the government telling you what to do, you will soon start seeing your insurance company telling you the same thing. They offer reduced rates for weight loss and proof that you are on some kind of conditioning program. As you get older, if you find yourself trying to change insurance companies, and you have a pre existing condition , you will have a hard time being accepted by any other insurance company. If you are younger, you look at any kind of insurance as not totally necessary. However, as you get older, and maybe pay for some of the things you did when you were younger, you begin to understand that your options are nil. Insurance companies don't exist to serve. They exist to make money--your money. They are betting, when they insure you, that you will not need their services. The older you get, the more they will put you through before they agree to insure you--if they will at all. I am afraid that a serious discussion on health insurance is going to be avoided, due to the fact that the insurance companies have so much money to spend that they can afford to put out all the propaganda they want.
