Rob Schmidt joined St. Joe Now as a reporter and anchor in January of 2009. Rob specializes in multi-platform journalism (television, print and
web) and enjoys being involved in the full process of news creation--shooting, editing and writing news stories.
Rob recently completed his master's degree in journalism from Indiana University--with an emphasis in multimedia. As a graduate student, Rob also worked as an intern with the Chicago Tribune's Electronic News department, developing multimedia stories for their online content.
Rob enjoys creating in-depth news stories and long form documentaries and received the award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Advanced Nonfiction in the Multivision 2009 Media Showcase.
Rob grew up in Milwaukee, WI, and his lived in various cities throughout the Midwest. Rob enjoys reading, watching movies, and cooking.

There have been 217 more driving while intoxicated citations issued by the St. Joseph Police Department, comparing the first three quarters of 2008 and 2009. Sgt. Bill McCammon attributes a portion of that rise to increased enforcement of drunken driving violations in the traffic division. But even if you subtract the 70 additional DWIs the traffic division brought in this year, that’s still a two-fold increase.
