LIBERTY, Mo. — There wasn’t much Central’s offense did wrong against Liberty. The Indians’ defense, though, couldn’t slow the Blue Jays’ potent offensive attack.
Liberty (5-1) scored nine touchdowns on its way to a 62-34 Suburban Big Seven victory on Friday night in Liberty.

EFFINGHAM, Kan. — Atchison County Community High School was not supposed to win Friday against Holton.
In fact, the Tigers weren’t supposed to come within 10 touchdowns. Although the underdogs didn’t win, they weren’t about to let another team cover that kind of a spread on homecoming.
“We were 72.5-point underdogs, and we played our hearts out,” said ACCHS coach Terry Porter, whose team fell to the Wildcats 41-10. “I’m tickled for all my coaches, Cy Wallisch, John Wetig and Pat Kearney. They did a heck of a job. We really worked and schemed and felt that they were underestimating us. I’m just so proud."
Andre Harris scored four touchdowns for the Atchison Redmen in a losing effort at Pittsburg-Colgan in Pittsburg, Kan., on Friday night.
The Redmen had a chance to tie the game late, but their 2-point conversion failed and Colgan batted-down a Hail Mary to preserve the 28-26 win.
“The team is hurtin’ because they know it was a game we should’ve won,” said Atchison coach Jim Smith, whose brother Chuck coaches Colgan. “There were a lot of nerves. I didn’t think I’d be so nervous.”
