Todd Weddle has worked at the St. Joseph News-Press for over 12 years. Todd was a intern at the News-Press in 1996 and joined the paper as a staff photographer in 1998. In 2007, Todd was promoted to Photo Chief and later was named Photo & Video Editor.

Todd plans the visual coverage for the paper and the website each day.

"Each day is different on the photo desk," Todd said. "I get to look through amazing photographs from our local photographers as well as images from the Associated Press. I also have the opportunity to shoot, edit and produce multimedia projects."

Todd has had interest in photography since high school but was drawn to photojournalism while attending a National Press Photographers Association conference in Kansas City. After hearing Bill Eppridge speak about covering Bobby Kennedy's political campaign and assignation, Todd made a commitment to the craft.

"I knew at that moment, that if still pictures could move me like the images from Bill Epridge, I had found my future career," Todd said.

Todd started out freelancing for different publication in northwest Missouri in the early 1990's and worked for a period at the Sedalia Democrat.

Todd said this job is about relationships. Relationships made with a camera but have lasting results.
Todd is from Maryville, Mo., and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Journalism from Northwest Missouri State University.

Over the years, Todd has won awards from the Associated Press, National Press Photographers Association and the Missouri Press Association.

Todd and his wife, Heather, are blessed with two boys, Benjamin and Jackson.
