In this column it is repeated stated that this guy was harrassed by his fellow military members yet it gives no examples, no proof of this happening. Where is this information coming from? Is the writer just making assumptions? What harrassment has this individual suffered?

Tigerfan what would you call it then when the prosecuter stated he wanted to say something really bad and admitted making that racist comment? This kid, no matter who he is or what he did, deserves a fair trial and deserves to be punished and treated for what he did, not what he looks like or what race he is. I think if he had part in this killing he needs to be punished to the fullest extent of the law, don't get me wrong, but the prosecuter was a jerk and should have been called more to task for his unprofessional behavior and disrespec of the courtroom.

Mr Guess was always the nicest when I saw him each month. He always had stories to tell about his cat watching the birds. I am sure the cat will miss him as I got the impression Mr. Guess and the cat were very close. I pray for the family during your time of grief. Hope knowing that your father, grandfather lived a full happy life will bring you some peace.

While I agree that the same values don't seem to be taught to kids that were when I was younger, what I have noticed and commented on is the lack of customer service in almost every venue. There just does not seem to be that realization that customers are your business whether you are in retail, healthcare, or what have you. It's not just young people, nor only older people. There is very little true customer service and respect in people anymore.

I was brought up to believe that you should wear your best to the Lords house to worship. If your best is a $500 suit or $300 dress then fine if it is jeans and short and a tank top then fine. The Lord knows what your best is. He will know if you are wearing your best to show him proper respect. It is not for others to judge but people should wear their best to church.

A co-worker keeps a close eye on the swans at the cemetary and she talked about the nest more than a week before the theft of the eggs. She said the swans were not sitting on the nest like they had been so she thought the eggs might have frozen during the last snow. It is a possibility. Also, just ask the guys that feed them every day. That male is mean and whoever tried to steal those eggs if they were still good would be one sorry individual. The swans could have pushed the dead eggs into the pond as well, that may be why there is no evidence of them. They have instincts about things like that. They would know if the eggs were not viable. I am not saying they were not stolen, I would just rather believe the non-viable story. It's another theory.

If the sunset clause was left in I believe the levy would have passed. The surveys the district did before the vote told them the same thing. They said they don't want to spend money every 5 years to campaign...Now they don't have any of that money so they don't have to worry about it. Backwards thinking if you ask me. They should have been happy with 5 years in stead of none. Besides, if they were running things correctly and being fiscally responsible then they would not have had to "campaign" so extensively in 5 years to get it passed again. Smith said that one way they were going to cut back no matter how the votes went was to freeze technology and textbook spending. WHAT? St Joe is so behind in technology now our kids can't keep up with surrounding districts. If they were going to freeze technology spending anyway.... soemone said that the district is run like any other company in reference to conferences and catered meals and I say that it is not run that way because it is not MY tax money paying for catered lunches in those companies. That is all the difference and the catered lunches aren't even my gripe it is just an example. The technology freezing comment made my mind up for me. The district cut off their nose to spite their face on this one. GREED is a four-letter word no matter how you spell it.
On What is to blame for the failure of the school levy and bonds?
I live outside city limits so although I will have to pay the bond and levy if they pass I don't get to vote on them. I don't like the removal of the sunshine clause but don't mind the levy. The bond I don't see benefitting my child in Robidoux or Lafayette so I'd probably vote no on it.
More money being spent that we don't have. When and where will it stop?

Trixie, ATT does not even have service at my house inside county lines and inside city limits in the north end. I was told 4 years ago it would be here in 2007. Not yet. I would like to get away from Cablevision internet. But anyway, how in the world is spending billions of dollars to get broadband to rural areas going to help the economy right now. Who can afford it? Bet they are not even thinking of that one...
On Broadband access could be expanded in region due to stimulus
