LoD,

Somehow the USA managed to squeak through the “Summer of Rage Tour 2009” without the necessity of activating the camps. Never you mind though, the Shadow Government has got you tagged and bagged and your reservation is confirmed courtesy FEMA.

Dale,

I am not that Henry Allison. When I first imaged what Jazzie’s could be, I thought of a dark room filled with ecdysiast terpsichoreans. Then I realized you probably meant the power chairs.

Dale,

Those girls were hanging with me at the Twin Bridges. The Prom Queens and the Class Favorites were dragging the Belt Highway, but the kind of girl that would send you personal pictures on a cell phone, although such things obviously didn’t exist at the time, were jumping off the bridges!

The only person making money at Fairview is Mike. To expand on that point, if Mike is getting jazzed about taking a pay cut all the way to $88K/year I would be interested to know what he is making now. Presently the city is subsidizing operations at Fairview to the tune of $12K/year. Another way to look at that is we, city taxpayers, whether we play golf or not, are putting $12K into Mr. Habermehl’s pocket that could go to Fairview operations.

I’m all for the dog wagging the tail, not the other way around.

Mr. Falcon,

It seems we’re listening to the same low-level chatter. Like you I strongly suspect Dick will be the GOB candidate for mayor come April.

Mr. Falcon,

I heard that rumor too, months ago now, but I put even less faith in it than the other. While it would certainly be satisfying personally for Kenny to defeat Joyce in her own house, I’m sure even Ken, with his limited vision and intellect, can see what a tough row that would be to hoe. Having said that, I hope Ken does run against Joyce. She would punch his ticket and we would be done with the Kenster.

There was never any danger Mayor Kenny would run for reelection AS MAYOR after Bill Falkner announced his candidacy. Both of these guys running for mayor would split the Bozo ticket which, from their view, would be a bad thing. Of course, there is the persistent rumor Kenny is planning a run as an at-large councilman.

What I find hilarious is the Mayor unbraiding the City Manger for airing the city’s dirty laundry in public. “Hello pot? This is the skillet calling!!” That Kenny is a hoot! I wonder what color the sky is in his world.

In this instance, I find myself completely allied with Mr. LibertyorDeath.

The United States Department of Education is a Cabinet-level bureaucratic boondoggle, of questionable constitutionality, run completely amuck. The only possible constitutional excuse for the ED is if it was promoting the “General Welfare” of the republic. Clearly, that is not the case.

Ronald Reagan wanted to dismantle the ED in 1980. The Democratic House wouldn’t allow it. A plank in the 1996 Republican platform read in part: The Federal government has no constitutional authority to be involved in school curricula or to control jobs in the market place. This is why we will abolish the Department of Education, end federal meddling in our schools, and promote family choice at all levels of learning. Even Ron Paul in 2008 during a rare fit of clarity, campaigned in opposition to the ED. And what happens? To my everlasting shame, the ED budget increased 70% between 2002 and 2006.

My solution is simple. Until the G can lower our federal tax rate on a proportional basis, dismantle the US Department of Education and apply its former budget, on a per capita basis, to every school district in the US. As soon as possible, reduce our individual federal tax rate to reflect the non-existent US ED budget so we can raise local taxes to fund our schools.

Get the US government out of our local schools!!

Mr. Mastrangelo,

Get with it or get out? Really? You have added to my burden. I never ever figured you for a jingoist.

In Alonza Weston’s article of 16 September he describes the Mayor’s motives as trying to get the ticket “dropped.” I strongly suspect Alonza has read Ms. Spencer’s memo describing in some detail the subject conversation. I know I have. Even after I explained where these memos could be obtained [the City Clerk’s office is another obvious choice], did you? If you haven’t, can you at least admit to yourself there may be evidence of motivations you aren’t aware of?

I love this town, but sometimes we are hard to understand.

Just for the record: Anywhere else in the civilized world, that operates under the rule of law, when an elected official tries to fix a ticket for their buddy, that is called obstructing justice. Anywhere else in America it is a felony.

They tell me Mayor Kenny is a man of the people. I guess that should tell me something about the people.
