Um, no, the officer was definitely not involved.. He is a stand up guy. It's so ridiculous to even put that thought out there... but of course, SJPD can NEVER be victim, their always suspect and the underdog. Seriously now, c'mon.

If someone else has this happen to them, say a military man, everyone would be SO sympathetic. No one would say "well, oh my, why were his weapons in his vehicle, garage, etc..???"

I hope we find the idiots who did this... and I hope people realize that it can happen to anyone..

Bad Dress,

I totally agree with the sagging pants and a lot of skin showing... Piercings and what nots, not a big deal! I have a lot of earrings, have had my nose and tongue pierced.. I liked them, and they didn't harm anyone. I'm not fond of older people who wear so much perfume you can barely stand to be in the room with them, or the tight, polyester pants they wear hiked up to their belly buttons... But it isn't harming anyone. (Okay, actually, I do get pretty bad headaches from people who douse themselves with perfumes..)

Trends will come and go... if you aren't keen on change, go live in an Amish community or somewhere that has a dress code. That way you can be happy.

Ok MM.... Thank about this for a moment.. Why in the WORLD would they WANT to release the changes to the public?
"The changes we have made include having the officer keep the weapons inside his house at all times unless being used.." etc... Hmm, I wonder how the next criminal will know to break into their house instead of their car? They aren't going to announce to the world what's going to be changed.. that would be ignorant!

People think that they are at risk so much more since the criminals got their hands on a police officer's weapons... Umm, houses are broken into every day and guns are stolen. Military weapons, rifles, AK's, pistol, etc are out there already.... as well as whatever else they can get their hands on. It's SO irresponsible of the officer and the department because his vehicle got broken into......???!!!! Okay, then everyone should be held responsible for their items, dangerous or not, being taken. It happened! It happens to everyone! Theft is a fact of life, and you never know who the next victim might be. It could be you!

My questions are:
What part of town was this is?
Could the person have gotten hit?
Did he give the officer attitude?
What time of night/morning was it?

Look at all of the factors. No matter how much we like it, if someone gets a ticket from someone of the opposite race, and it just so happens they may be in the minority in town, that card is going to be pulled. If a black officer gives a "rich white person" a ticket for walking in the street in a nice part of town, that white person is probably going to call "racism!!!" as well. People can find disabilities, race, ailments, ANYTHING to make it seem like they were wronged in any situation they aren't happy with.

Officer Wilhoit is not a "racist" person nor is he unfair. He's probably one of the nice officers you'll come across. I'm thinking there was obviously a reason the man was issued a ticket. A lot of times, you can avoid a ticket by talking courteously to an officer and recognizing your fault. If you give the officer grief from the beginning and act annoyed that he is ever talking to you in the first place, then yeah.. you might very well get cited for something.

What if someone had came around the corner and hit Marcell Jackson? It was night time, it could have happened.. People aren't going to expect to see someone at that time of night, especially depending on the neighborhood. Then the blame would be probably placed on the person driving when really, the person was walking in the street and placed himself in that situation. There are reasons for these laws. Just because the officers have more important things to do then cite everyone for walking in the roadway doesn't mean they aren't justified in doing it.

I am hoping this isn't going to be St. Joe's first murder of the year, but it sure does look like it.

Thoughts go out to his family! And may they find out what happened there.

lol! I would LOVE to adopt that snake, LOVE to.. but as I do have two cats who would rather not be eaten, I also have a baby on the way, not enough room for that beautiful snake.. I hope Mr. Snakey finds a good home though, he looks really gentle!

Its interesting to me that the driver involved would post on this since the accident is still under investigation.. I hope everything he said on here matches up to what he said in the statement I assume he gave, otherwise he could have just ruined his chances of compensation. I wouldn't think it would be smart to comment on an investigation until it is a little more "investigated."

Accidents happen. Say the van whipped a U turn (which I often see CITIZENS of St. Joe do) and the police car hit him. Betcha it would be all turned around to the officer again because people like to criticize officers. Give him a break.
