trixie thats is why it's call LABOR COSTS it's not the amount the person putting the car together earns.
the Japan auto makers in the US aren't in the fix the big 3 are they have the cash to suverive and they have cars we'er buying
this is just my opinion but i think the standered of living in the US is inflated. Most people are so deep in debt that if they miss a day of work they cant pay the bills for that month and that is just sad. People just dont know how to do without anymore, they just decide "I need that" and whip out the visa. my formative years where the last 70's so i learned to live with NO. I know it's not the 30's but i stil vaguely rember gas lines.
Next time you need a tradesman to work in your house ckeck the difference between the union shops and the non union ones i'll bet you'll be suprised and guess what it's all labor cost
On It's Your Call, Dec. 6, 2008
blah blah blah spend what you need to, save alittle for a rainy day, and invest what you dont need for a few years.
Act your wage, tell our reps in DC what you think of their childish spending spree and if they dont behave with YOUR money DON'T send them back. This goes for the folks in the state and local too.
Get your information on all sides and figuer out the truth for yourself.
$75/hr the LABOR cost for the big 3 to biuld a car that is all aspcets of labor. accutal pay and benifits, desgin and enginering, quality control costs, and it may inclued the pension packages of those that have reitred from the big 3
I have seen somewhere (here i belive) that outside detroit it's $45/ hr and more and more people are buying those cars the companies aren't having anywhere near the money trouble, they have employes that are happy and show up to work and biuld a quality product.
Detroit needs a major retool to get with the 21 century bailout aren't going to help

It's not the goverments responiblity to do anything but ensure the smooth flow of day to day life for ALL americans
It has been debated widely and i belive with much success that this is the same thinking that made the great depression much longer that it should have
that being said i would agree that somthing needs to be done about this problem, but goverment is NOT the soultion.
The caring and genruos(sp) soul of america is. When a call for help is put out for the food kitchens and the like we responed with the help they ask for. It might not be all they need but in these tough times the people are thinking with taxes possibly going up I might end up here too. Dont look to goverment to fix the broken stuff tell they to get out of your pocket and not to worry i'll fix it for you "WE THE PEOPLE" can do a much better job
Social Security yep a failed socialst program. I feel for the seinors out there that thought it would be all they need in the sunset of life. But really did you actualy think that goverment could do anything right. Every time goverment tries to help you they F it up.
i love sarcasim always make me smile

red my bad i generalised faith based would have been better... you decide what they get with your donations
no you walked into the welfare office to apply for assistence if you truly need it you get it. my point here is... if you can work to support yourself and your family GET THE HELL OUT OF MY POCKET AND GET A JOB.
The current meltdown was caused by the CRA and the sub-prime paper it created when it was seen in that it was going to be a problem the democrate controled congress ignored it and we ended up where we are today
I am gonna stay away from the health care point, I'll just end up repeting myself
Jobs\Welfare: I agree you have lazy people that you cant get to show up to work job hunting enough times might cure some of them. MOst of the perpetually unempolyed are on welfare for no other reason than they are entitled to do nothing and get paid for it. These are able bodied americans that take and give nothing back.(they are not involved in producing a good or service to grow our GDP)This is a pratice that i feel needs to end, if you are not incapable to work because of a physical or mental inpairment then you should work to put food on your table, a roof over your head, and a shirt on your back. I'm not against helping my fellow man that has fallen on hard times, but a bloated goverment can't do this effectivly, good christen charities can. My welfare dollar should go straight to them and not through some buracrat the takes 2 for every 1 that send out. What would The Sal. Army or Second Harvest do with 3times the money(anything they wanted cause it didn't come from the goverment with regulations it came from you and me).
just some thoughts mike

there are those in the bottom 95% that dont like this much i myself being one of them. The top 5% thats the guy that signs my paycheck every week. When his taxes go up he has less $ to pay me with. so he either has to raise his prices ( more revnue and even more $ going to taxes) or he cuts spending (I lose my job). My favorite quote on this point is "I've never had a broke person give me a job"
Look at the states that tried socialised healthcare in most of them it failed in those that still do it is limited mostly to kids and the very poor or your paying somthing for it just like free market healthcare. In Canada and Europe you hear of sub standered care from time to time
Less goverment regulation is good
Lol here i would like to high five
We still get most of our enegry from coal. Should we make it cleaner? Yes but not at the cost of killing it. Solar would not be around where it not subsdised it just to costly yea its clean but I'll bet you kinda like your relativly cheep light bill. Wind messes with bird migration get the envoro's to shut up and this and nukes would give us cheep clean enegry
