What does that do for businesses? It free's up parking in front of their stores. I would like to elaborate on the pay zones. Place meters in those zones. Good to see your S.H. (heritage). LOL
1 of 1 people thought this was a good comment.
The areas where parking is nonexistant (where you mentioned apmastrangelo) should be free without time restraint. What that would do is encourage people to park in those areas. Placing time restrictions in heavy trafic areas would encourage people to park elsewhere (maybe intricately placed free zones). Just a thought...
Actually their current systems can track the warnings. I was at a lunch meeting with many of the people in this article about six months ago. It's seems like many of the same ideas we proposed to them then. I hope something get's done. The system they have is far more advanced than you think.
I don't have time to get into it but here's the article. http://www.stjoenews.net/news/2009/jan/2...
I'm Devin by the way... LOL
It takes a true person with true dignity and utter respect for the other being to apologize for a mistake. That's something Bush never did. You're an arrogant human being if you don't apologize for your mistakes. Whoever submitted "What Mistake?" obviously was raised in a barn or is so into him/her self that they failed to recognize standard morals most PEOPLE practice. Ridiculous...
And to the A Rod thing listed in Orliandor's comment: I agree. I have much more respect for him than the other d-bags (McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, and so on...). He stopped himself from making a lame excuse as to why he did it and just fessed up. Looking at this also (my Dad pointed this out), he claims he didn't know what he was taking (BS). But you have to consider this, they can trace who it came from by other players testimonies if he were to give a specific drug's name he took. He's trying to take all the blame and not get anyone else in trouble. Steroid use in baseball would be an interesting conversation piece for a NP article. I could get into a lot.
On It's Your Call, Feb. 11, 2009
Malpractice rates are on the decline pretty much based solely on tort reform that was passed in 05 and with chapter 383 mutual insurance companies coming back into the market. I work for MoDocs (1 383 mutual). I am on the forefront of what physicians face with the legalities involved with simply practicing medicine (I'm not an attorney, I'm a producer). It's absolutely insane. A chapter 383 is ran by the physicians inside of it's membership and solely owned by those physicians (meaning all insureds are owners). There are no stock holders. That cuts cost for the same coverage as many of the stock companies dramatically, simply because there are no dividends to be paid. You would be surprised if you could see the numbers.
Malpractice is an area that will always be developing as the law develops. That is not the big issue though. The big issue is health insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, and hospitals with green in their brains (and not the "Save the Earth" green).
PS. The cap on no economic damages is now $350K so the millions for an upper GI is a little out of context. Now that's just for Missouri. Look at Pennsylvania and Illinois. They are sue happy. Insanely sue happy.

Both of you are 100% right on the money. We should all be greatful that we have a person like Rob fighting for us. I work with him and I get to hear about some cool things he has done. He is really here to help both us and the physicians out. You know the NP didn't used to be anti-Schaaf. I don't know what's up with that all of a sudden. I guess it's their boy Sheehan.
My point is this, reimbursements need to be raised to attract more physicians. Caps need to be put in place for specialists. It's absolutely ridiculous the amount of highway robberies they can get away with. I had an upper GI performed on me. I paid $1k. Guess what the total cost was...? $6K for 45 mins worth fo work and a little anesthesia and some plastic. Now given the doc had to pay a fee for using the facility and it's nurses, it still wasn't that much. I bet he pocketed at least $3k off of that. And I bet between the colonoscopies and the upper GI's he performed that day, he had a $15K day. 2 days a week ($30K a week) and then factor in the regular patients that come in or emergency surgeries he has to do at Heartland. He's rich. It needs to be fixed and regulated.
If medicaid reimbursements can go up and specialists can be more mandated, we may have a good chance. Now that's not socialism, that's regulation.

I agree "onefootin". I fell badly for the workers there. You guys have been treated poorly as of late and it's an absolute shame that something like that can happen. You guys take it easy and I hope there is something for you when they shut down.
