Wright,
I nullify everything you just said with this...
George W. Bush and Sarah Palin.

dalearch are they not creating demand? Did you not watch the supply and demand after school specials in the 80's?

Granny,
Let us for a moment consider the posibility that we are in, or are headed toward, hard times. Let us also consider that you might be laid off from your job, or your family, or... You get the point. Now when you or your family are already struggling, can you take on the responsiblity of your family, even if it means hardship like moving your sister in with you or moving in with your mother or children? What are you willing to do in order to not accept welfare? Would you reject a welfare check if you were down on your luck?
I am a Christian, I assume you are a Christian, but should we assume that homosexuals are Chrisitians? Some are, but I would assume that most are not and do not believe it to be sin because, and get this, they are not Christians. Remember what Jesus told us to do? Seems like a good crowd to minister to and bring them into our group. Perhaps after they are Christians and we have done our part to help them arrive there, we can hold them to a higher standard.

tiger I disagree with your statement that working people do not create jobs. Working America earns money to shop (any item or service with a price tag), and shopping is what creates jobs. The wealthy can create jobs but if they are not getting paid by the working/shopping citizens they are going to take away those jobs. If you do not believe this explain why unemployment is so high amidst a huge cutback in consumer spending.

238er, what do you think that outcome would have been had race not been an issue? If the Palin-McCain fear/negativity machine was not a viable force?
GrannyKK, I am with you on the abortion issue but...
Pro-welfare is a good thing-it shows you have a heart and are caring about your fellow humans. I will gladly pick you up if you fall-which I hope you do not because if you do you may have to refuse those welfare benefits and go hungry and homeless. Pro-human and pro-homosexual are misused terms. To say that you love someone and respect someone who is homosexual is not the same as saying I love that you are engaged in homosexual activities. Love the person and let God decide who is a sinner, you are not their God. Is it any less sinful for someone to be homosexual as it is for you to judge and hate them? The same for welfare?
Separation of Church and state came at a time when this was necessary to keep the state from abusing the Church and the Church leaders from abusing the state. I am not saying we do not still need this, but at the time it was absolutely necessary.

Comparing Georges...
It's math time.
I agree with you 110%, George the First is 3x the President of George the Second. The only problem with this is that George the First is 1/8 the Presdident we needed and should expect.
G2 / 3 / 1/8 = "W"
"W" is now the symbol we will use internationally to signify failure (which is much simpler than saying "HW").

think about Bushie's approval rating...
He has not reached an all time low because he has been efficient or effective. People were just seeing in him what he lived up to be.

Devil's Advocate here (no pun intended)...
How would many of us react if we were told we could not marry our opposite sex partner? Just a thought.

wildwest I agree with your premise. We as Americans are complacent about everything. We are angered by problems we see around us, but not enough to take action for what we (halfheartedly?) believe in.
On Welfare is welfare, no matter who receives it
Well said apmast. We are not bailing out these companies so much as we are bailing out our family, friends, and neighbors. If these companies go down we will all feel it, some worse than others.
