District enlists help with planning

Sense- I am not trying to bash the public school. I was making a point to Rocketmom that you do not have to go to Platte City for a better school.

District enlists help with planning

Rocketmom- "The only schools better than sjsd are in platte county".

I can name several schools that are better than sjsd right here in St. Jo: St. Jo Christian & the 4 Catholic Schools. If you look at ACT scores printed in the paper ever year St. Jo Christian & Leblond score higher than any of the public schools. You will find these schools are way ahead of the public schools.

Parent complains about teacher's act

Boz44,
If you read my post you will see that I say the student could have been at fault also and that it should have been handled in private.

Mr Flowers should be responsible for his actions because he was at a youth sporting event and he is the education field. If a teacher gets a DWI they can lose their job. How does that effect their teaching? I'm sorry I do not want the person that gets thrown out of their child's sporting events for using profanity to be the same person that hires teachers to educate my child. Shouldn't we be leading our youth by example?

Parent complains about teacher's act

As a parent I think this teacher was 100% wrong. I understand it's not always the teachers fault and the kids are to blame. No matter if the student was acting out or not the teacher should have handled this matter in private.

I find it very interesting that an article is done on this teacher but nothing has been written in the paper about the incident with Mr Flowers getting thrown out of Sandlot while coaching his son's basketball team for using profanity. Why is Mr Flowers protected? Were there any disciplinary measures taken for his behavior?

Our opinion: WIC wise to promote breastfeeding

I would be interested to see how many woman on WIC could be breastfeeding that aren't. I know there are circumstances where a mother cannot breastfeed her baby but there also allot that can that just don't. If you can afford to buy your own formula than have at it but if you can't and rely on government assistance than they should be breastfeeding.

Our opinion: WIC wise to promote breastfeeding

How are they going to monitor if these mothers are really breastfeeding or not? Why don't they do away with giving vouchers for formula? If you can't afford formula what better way to feed your baby with no cost!

Third school fails to meet mark

Sure glad my child goes to a private school. When they list in the paper the schools top ACT scores does anyone ever wonder why the private schools are always higher than the public? Maybe it's because they aren't top heavy in administration and they focus all their money on education.
