Styx frontman to headline festival

last year Bonnamassa blew me away! i don't know Scholfield, but a quick look through utube reveals a rippin' good blues guitar in the tradition of Cotton , for sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHMGtb...

funny that a buddy of mine and i were JUST saying last weekend how uber cool it would be to have Gov't Mule and viola!!!!! we get the incomparable Neel!!!!

i don't go to the fest for the country, and usually miss the main event, but i won't fail to see Scholfield.

Man gets 14 years for causing wreck

"I hate hearing people being so vindictive to me because I did not mean to do that to them.”

that about says it all for me. taking methadone in proper dosage for assistance in kicking a habit is one thing. substituting your addiction with another high is not.

this man has a laundry list of escalating behavior.

no sense, the sjsd announced that they would spend down their reserves when they asked for the sunseted levy. they stated definitively that even with the second levy passing that they would be in stress before the five years was up. check your facts.

its off topic but the state cuts to education are only making an already untenable position worse. its the same for the city. we cannot put our heads in the sand on this.

thanks for that clarification, clinton.

i maintain that decisions made even as soon as last year have to be evaluated with the most cautious of guidelines. they had planned to do with less, and they should stick to that.

and sense, i agreed with barb labass' lone stand to vote Nay on the "fort". the schools Are dipping into their reserves, and they stated that they would do so. those reserves will be depleted at an even more alarming rate now.

i am completely convinced that the stadium and its partnership has been a terrific boon to st joseph. however, in this economic climate it is irrational to Expand projects which came in under budget simply because there appears to be extra money lying around.

jeez sense, you defended the sjsd to the hilt for their prudent reserves. the city is currently in the red, and we are negotiating police and fire contracts. there are Necessary items on the line that should take priority.......

sorry, but no one is going to like the fact that we have to prioritize. every sector of the city will be hit. better get used to it...... the budget has to managed as if there will be no end to the decline in order to safeguard vital services.

Your letters, March 15, 2010

brian cronk puts this issue to bed in a reasoned and fact based letter. especially interesting to me is the explanation of how the two systems came to combine for those years.

Your letters, March 14, 2010

thanks brian for clarifying that issue. i firmly believe that the neighborhood assets are invaluable.
houston, i never meant to infer that affluence has such a relation to library usage. i intended to point out that the less affluent have less options for transportation, and as cronk points out, are more dependent than ever on the Modernity of the library. the children of the poor may not have the option of having their parent drive them to the downtown or east hills locations. their parents are likely to be working two shifts. they are more likely to be latch key children. these kids can, and do, walk to the local libraries. in my participation on cdbg ad hoc efforts it was readily apparent that the children in the north end who utilize the center are extremely vulnerable. we as a society have to take the needs of the less fortunate into consideration.

Candidates share plans, ideas with public

you are correct as to the snafu with collective bargaining. i honestly believe that the firefighters are willing to recognize that the economic conditions have changed and are not going to turn around ( anytime soon). they seem willing to share the pain. remember this issue went to collective bargaining a year ago and there was discussion well before that which was going nowhere.

i don't think the city should be trying to now use their position to thwart the signing of the old agreement. there is an advert now in city weekly for available positions. a firefighter is earning $10.73 hourly, probationary position with the police is $14.51, and a SEWER ASSET TECH ......$15.29.
