As a former clinical worker, I've tended to many patients with pulmonary problems, most related to smoking. I saw firsthand the crippling effects smoking causes when lung cancer or end-stage emphysema patients beg you to ease their pain and help them breathe normal. Unfortunately, it's too late! The damage is already done. They died a slow, miserable, painful manner.

Have you ever seen a dissected lung from a smoker...even a fairly young adult? I have and it was horrible. Check out this website: http://www.smokerslungs.com/

Oh, but smoking isn't harmful...if you believe some of the "pro smoking" posts. But hey, smoking doesn't kill brain cells...just ask them.

Hey Frank, what's up with the insults? Do you suffer from sublimated narcissistic discharge or something? It'd be a major milestone if you could get your mind to stretch a little further than the next wisecrack.

Four day school week? It would give the underpaid teachers a break from the problems such as drug use, cheating, insubordination, truancy, behavior issues and intimidation--which result in countless school and classroom disruptions. Approximately one-half of all classroom time is taken up with activities other than instruction, and discipline problems are responsible for a significant portion of this lost instructional time.

In addition, there are many parents that use the school system as childcare and expect the teachers to "make up" on their lack of discipline in the home. Why not give the teachers a break?

Troopers are dealing with all sorts of dangerous situations, but this is proof that routine traffic stops are often what are most dangerous. There's too many unattentive, inattentive motorists out there. Slow down, move over and stay off your cell phone! Glad your okay John.
