Because breastfeeding isn't possible for all women/babies. So, would you rather the baby starve than have them give away vouchers?

She does a very hard job, and she does it well. I agree that not everyone tried is guilty. That's not her concern - that's the jury's concern, to figure out who is not guilty and who is guilty. It concerns me greatly that people seem more concerned about the predators than about the children who are being harmed.

Great column and I couldn't agree with you more. Renewing the levy isn't a problem, but insisting in this economy that we have to build two new schools right away, at the same time as the levy, is. No doubt we need new schools - our structures are so old it's embarrassing when there are visitors from out of town. However, aren't we all making sacrifices right now due to this economic time? Staying in houses longer than we planned, driving cars older than we planned, cutting trips and new furniture and other plans from our budget in order to add some more to savings in an uncertain time? Teachers are not something that should be sacrificed in this time, and I am very sad that the decision to put both on the ballot has made that the only choice. The levy should have passed, the new schools should have waited until the economy improved.

What a great group of people to help others in this way. Thanks for running a story about them.

Thank you for mentioning Irena Sendler. I went to school with the students who founded Life in a Jar. Sendler was an amazing woman, and gracious, and never even received much attention at all until these amazing students discovered her.

What an impressive woman who truly did serve as an inspiration to the hard-working volunteers. Thank you, Dr. Biden.

I'm all for a Thai restaurant or sushi - or Chinese that's not a buffet. Cabela's or Bass Pro would do good around here, I would think, and would bring a lot of visitors to the area.
