Should the U.S. press Israel to stop building in East Jerusalem?

I have a long way to go? Because YOU say I do? Please...don't make me laugh!! Besides, outside the Middle East, the UK has one of the highest concentrations of Muslims in the world. Additionally, there are many radicalized Muslims in the UK...and the media is rather sympathetic to their cause. Sorry, you won't like that, and will, undoubtedly discount that, but it's the truth.
I never said one thing about "anti-semitic". YOU did. I must have touched a nerve.

I support Israel, and I believe the Palestinians are mostly good people who, without the interferrence of Hamas, would make peace. Hamas and Hezbollah are two illegal, murderous, vicious groups that aren't interested in peace in the Middle East, and certainly don't care about making peace with Israel. As long as they have hateful, weak-minded people like you who blindly follow their agenda, they'll continue to find footholds in the US. Your much-touted "liberty" won't last long with them in charge. May God grant us the strength to oppose them.

Ms. Evans, you're not far from my belief. I don't believe you intend for there to exist a theocracy in this country. However, you make a good case for the personal beliefs of our Founding Fathers, and have exposed some of the lies and misinformation spread by those who seek to re-write history to suit their own militant secularist agenda. Thank you for an excellent letter!

Actually, if you're willing to see it in this light, the very Constitution the Founding Fathers created is very Christian-oriented. They had extensive experience with a theorcracy, and wanted no part of it. Their "Great Experiment" was a society that honored and respected ALL people, regardless of their religious background or beliefs. That concept has been threatened many times over the history of this nation, but perhaps no more threatened than it is today. Mr. Herrington is a logical, thoughtful person...and I wish more people were like him. Unfortunately, there are way too many anti-religious zealots out there who would like nothing more than to stamp out religious expression. There are also, unfortunately, too many Mr. Despains and Mr. Phelps out there who would like nothing more than to stamp out any expression but their narrow view of Christianity. I despise both.

Not a sheep. I see what's going on...and I don't hate people merely because of their ethnicity or country of origin. I believe God established Israel as His people, and I believe He had a hand in establishing the Israeli state. They have a right to exist, just like anyone else....just like you. I don't care if you feel I'm a "sheep". Just because you think the sky is magenta doesn't make it so. As sorry as you are for my "condition", I, too, am sorry for the hatred inside you.
As for Canada and Mexico...that was a hypothetical question...which you very clumsily attempted to sidestep. Your effort indicates you don't wish to acknowledge the truth of the matter. When did you become anti-Jewish? Why do you hate them so much? Do you REALLY care about freedom, liberty and security for all, or just for you?
I feel sorry for folks, like you, who wink at terrorism, but rail against those who are attempting to be free of such terror.

I'd still challenge you, LOD, to answer the question....what do you think the response would be in this country if Canada and Mexico were both doing what Hamas and Hezbollah are doing? What if both Canada and Mexico had sworn to wipe the US off the face of the earth? What if it were ALL of South America, Central America and Canada?
Your "Liberty Or Death" moniker rings continually hollow. It indicates you have little or no regard for the millions of Israeli's who wish to live in peace. I don't want to hear of your contrived "atrocities". Talk to me about 6 million Jews murdered by the Third Reich. Talk to me about the massive attackes over the decades by Arab and Mulim extremists. Talk to me about the idiotic madman in Iran building nuclear devices specifically engineered to elminiate Israel in a huge fireball.
I have agreed with you in many instances, but in this case, we part company.

I agree, Steve_O, there ARE Muslims who don't believe in the radicalized version of their religion....just like there are many Chrisitians who don't believe in the radicalized version of Christianity, such as the version Fred Phelps preaches.

I grow tired of people criticizing Israel when it's constantly Hamas and Hezbollah lobbing rockets into Israeli cities, sending suicide bombers into crowded markets and buses, and killing innocent men, women and children indiscriminately. Imagine what would happen in this country if Mexico and Canada were both doing the very same things.

It's your call, March 18, 2010

It's not that $18 will break me. However, the water company wants a hike. The gas company wants a hike. The electric company wants a hike. The school district just got a hike. The county wants more money. The list goes on and on. It's not that the library increase breaks a person's wallet. It's the combination of them all. It has to stop somewhere. I have little or no control over the utility rate hikes. The puppet PSC gives that to them every single time. We DID have control over the school district levy, and although some of you disagreed with the sunset clause, I voted FOR the levy with the clause, because it leaves the discretion in the hands of the voters. I vote NO for the library levy, because I'm tired of every organization in the area coming to, me, Joe Taxpayer, with their hands out. My pay is going DOWN...not up, because of increases in everything around me. Given the opportunity, I'm saying enough is enough.

I know many towns, not much different in size than St. Joe, that have only one public library. I, too, don't understand the need for all the libraries we have. People can't go all the way across town to the library? Give me a break!! They can if they want. There is NO ONE in St. Joe that can't either take the bus or drive themselves.

I'll be voting "no" on the library levy. Sorry, but taxes are out of control, and I feel the school levy was necessary, but this goes too far. There is a limit to what St. Joe residents can continue to contribute. While I feel libraries are necessary, and valuable, I don't believe a levy is the way to do it. I would support a user fee. If I want to use the library, I have to pay an annual fee to do so. If I DON'T use the library, I pay nothing. What's so unfair about that?

Should the U.S. press Israel to stop building in East Jerusalem?

Sorry, LOD, but I refuse to even address the UN idiocy until the UN addresses the indiscriminate terrrorism perpetrated by the Palestinians. Just this morning, in the news, there is a report of rockets being fired from Gaza into Israel, and people were killed. Tell me, please, when Israel did that. Tell me when Israeli citizens went into Gaza and set off explosives in city buses, in crowded markets, etc. You defend the terrorists. Hamas and Hezbollah both have sworn to eliminate Israel. Israel has a right to exist, and they refuse to accept that. "Liberty Or Death"? Give me a break!! Does that moniker apply only to you or are you broad-minded enough to apply it to Israeli's too?
