Seriously? Am I reading this correctly--Sgt Wall saw a skateboarder hit his chin and now kids can't ride their skateboard on any public street? That's absurd. I'm all for safety, but that is overkill. Why would I take my kids to a skate park and pay a fee so they can ride skateboards? They ride their skateboards and bikes every day on our street in a nice quiet neighborhood and as their parent we've gone over safety rules.

Why not limit the law to busy streets (using common sense) or just find a better way to protect the people on your lunch hour. Hey there are kids playing football which statistically have 3.5 more injuries than skateboarders ---maybe you should ban that too. And don’t get me started on bicycles! They’re worse than playing football. In fact in 2004 there were 77 deaths from bicycles. (Stats for kids under 15) Yet there are still many parents allowing their children to ride these horrible things in our town. I can’t believe you haven’t stopped this yet! Oh that’s probably still a decision for a PARENT to make!

How about a trade? This guy can come home (here) if officials round up 1000 illegals to send back now!

My point is that illegal immigration is so out of hand that stories like this that may have turned more sympathetic heads in the past are losing ground. I'd say let this guy come back quickly so those who support illegal immigration can't hold it over our heads when we try to turn the focus back to the real problem!

It's not about smelling like smoke or trying to hurt tobacco companies----banning smoking in public places is about protecting the public. Second hand smoke is worse than first hand--so when someone lights up in public that choice doesn't just affect them.

Okay I'm just getting back to this site to read what people are writing---
to Rush 620: I did say that it wouldn't solve everything but are you really more concerned with the bus schedule inconvenience? My point is that even before this happened I didn't feel comfortable with my kids riding the bus with High School kids. Even after teaching them not to use drugs they shouldn't be exposed to that yet.

Oh and I think someone said it was a 15 min ride--well that 15 min everyday sure added up to a lot of trouble----oh and by the way it's 30/40 min for some kids. I didn't have to ride with HS students in middle school-it can be done!

----and to the MOMINMISSOURI comment about no work situation will separate age groups----do you think middle school and high school should be combined? Do you realize that they are still only 12/13 years old?

This won't solve everything, but I'd like to see separate busses for the Middle School students. They shouldn't be riding with High School students.
